Bio and Links
Bio Photo West Norwood Cemetery is over 40 acres and some parts are covered in brambles and completely inaccessible. Ivy covered memorials can be seen sticking up through the undergrowth here and there.

West Norwood Cemetery has an online database of re-used graves in the cemetery. By 1965 the cemetery was running out of space and started selling off old neglected graves to new owners, until it was ordered that this was illegal and the practice was stopped. If you find your ancestors on the West Norwood Cemetery website, there will be no sign of their graves in the cemetery, and any grave marker on the plot will belong to the new owner.

I strive for accuracy but am not infallible. Errors pointed out to me will be appreciated and corrected with all speed. Additional information is welcome also. Please use the Edit tab on the memorial in question.

For all other matters, I can be contacted by using the 'Edit' tab on any one of the memorials I have created, and then selecting 'Other'.

James Trumbell, Norwood or West Norwood?
Thank you for your very kind message regarding James Trumbull. I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board and retrace my steps to know which of the years I entered contains the error and recheck my source on the burial site as well. I appreciate your notice!!

Thanks so much for getting the photos; I appreciate your time and efforts; it appears this cemetery is not an easy one to navigate.

RE: Lucy Follett
Sorry to hear you have been ill: did not expect any message!

Not really keen about leaving a public message: so just bare bones

Lucy, daughter of William Tozer, shoemaker and Ann his wife: baptized 9 July 1839 Luppitt.

What surprised me was that they had a gravestone.

Have you any connections with them?

RE: Pvt Thomas Russell
Thank you for replying. Do you have any idea how long my photo request may take?

As for transferring the memorial to me I don't know what that means?

Pvt Thomas Russell

I see you posted a record for my grandfather Thomas James Russell who died in December 1940 in Bridport, Dorset. I was hoping that you could tell me what is written on the grave?

It is a long story to explain why this is important so I will try and keep it short. My grandfather shot himself in 1940 but my mother, who is still alive, does not know this. She has always been told that he just died in the war but now in her 70s she would like to see his grave to gain some sort of closure. As you can understand if the grave refers to his suicide this would be very problematic. So all I need to know is there is anything incriminating written on the grave or is it safe for her to visit it. I hope you can help.

Thank you
Sarah
