FAG (FindAGrave) was developed as a GRAVE REGISTRATION site, not a family tree site. As time went on, contributors/others were given the opportunity to add biographies and link family members. Wonderful for all of us. |
My mission remains the same as FAG's: "Find a Grave's mission is to find, record and present final disposition information from around the world as a virtual cemetery experience" and "is a resource for anyone in finding the final disposition of family, friends, and 'famous' individuals'."
So please read the FAQs and follow the guidelines. Do not take other people's work and/or pictures without citing them as a reference. That is stealing and violating copyright laws.
Consider making virtual cemeteries for your ancestors/relatives if your request for a transfer puts you out of guidelines.
I will do edits to my memorials if they add information. Please read the FAQs for the proper way to submit edits. I do reserve the right to decline edits.
Do not send birth dates that are calculated from the stone. Anyone can do this calculation themselves so it is not adding to the memorial. This leads to incorrect information.
Sorry, requests not made correctly or left on this page will be DELETED.
You may add pictures yourself to any memorial by clicking on Add Photo. Choose the correct type of photo: grave, person, family, or other.
Please follow the guidelines and we'll all have a wonderful experience. Have fun searching this site.

Just wanted to thank you for uncovering (literally from what I read) some of the missing information about my husband's family. I am very grateful to everyone who submits photos and information to this website.

Perfect. I'll take of getting the name of the cemetery changed. I'm working with the church historian to write a nice description that will be added for this cemetery as well. After the thaw, we'll be able to see if there's a gravestone and try to get you a pic!
|Rhonda Scott||RE: Leonard Martin (Hess)|
I think I found him. The superintendent for the cemetery he is listed in confirmed for me tonight that he's not in that cemetery. However, the records for the Grandin cemetery across the street include a Leonard Martin, who died on March 25, 1844.
Are you the owner of this memorial? If so, please change the cemetery to #2220599, which is identified as Grandin Cemetery in Find A Grave.
This is about to get very confusing. You had the right cemetery name, but Find A Grave had the cemeteries incorrectly identified. I just entered requests for name changes for both of these cemeteries within Find A Grave. The Find A Grave cemetery listed as Bethlehem Presbyterian Churchyard is actually Bethlehem Cemetery (not affiliated with Presbyterian Church and NOT a churchyard). The Find A Grave cemetery listed as Grandin Cemetery is actually Old Bethlehem Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery at Grandin. This error in the Find A Grave names is quite confusing, but hopefully we'll get it straightened out.
After Find A Grave corrects the names, and you change the cemetery number for his memorial, I'll be able to find it after the snow melts! We're getting another 3-6" of snow tonight, so it may take a while!

If you can get the owner of the memorial for John E. Walrath to add my material to the memorial, I will delete my memorial.

I'll go back to the Cemetery Superintendent and ask about him with the new name. Thanks for the clarification. Rhonda

Elsie, many thanks for posting all the photos. If you live in the area of Alford or are planning a trip there, could you look for the cemetery that I posted at this Memorial# 114279889. When we were there in May I tried several times to try to locate it on the West Rd, but no luck. I have since found out that the (DAR) survey that included what I call the Holmes Cemetery was done in 1936, so it may be totally gone. I wrote what I learned about the Holmes plot on the info for that cemetery. Just click on the name Holmes to go to it. The Bakers are my ancestors, so if you could find the cemetery & headstones, I would be most appreciative. Sharon
