Bio Photo After my father passed away in 2006, I became more interested in researching my family history, since my mother is also deceased - there aren't too many people that really know the family history. While I've been able to find a wealth of information on my mother's side, I haven't been as lucky on my father's side.
Through this website, I have been able to find out where many family members are buried. Someone who was passing through the area was kind enough to take numerous pictures of the small rural family cemetery, even though she had no connection to them. Although I can't help her, I want to help others by taking pictures of their loved ones' graves.
If I've gotten any details wrong, please don't hesitate to let me know so I can change them! :)
*** I started my dream job - working at a cemetery - in September 2014! I hope to be able to fulfill many photo requests as well as add memorials.

Shamrocks,

Back in November you sent me a note about ordering a stone for him. Do you have an update?

You can reply via his memorial page here:

RE: 129791569, Mary Bowes
The handwritten burial register - Record of Interments in the National Cemetery at West Point, New York - indexed as Mary Bowers on Ancestry.com.

606 Bowes (could be interpreted as Bowers), Mary, Grave Mark Number B 158.

I have posted on the memorial page the card for Interment in the West Point, N.Y. Post Cemetery which shows her as Mary Bowes, Section B, Grave 158. This information came from the Cemetery Register, February 21, 1898.

The B 158 matches the B 158 from the handwritten cemetery register.

You are most likely correct that the stone for May Bowers is Mary Bowes.

I checked the index cards for a May Bowers - no card was found.

When you have the time could you check out a remark that a contributor wants to have added to the bio for Find A Grave Memorial# 129791569, Mary Bowes.

They state: She had 2 children. . . William Nicholas Bowes (1873 to 1875). William Nicholas Bowes is thought to have also been buried at the West Point Post Cemetery.

I have checked the handwritten burial records and was able to verify that Mary Bowes sans dates was on the register. However, I could not find any listing for her son, William. If there is another source that you have access to and could check I would appreciate it.

Thanks for your help

RE: West Point Post Cemetery
Thank you! I hoped you might be able to help Mr. Jones. I have a photo request in for the stone of Sgt. Reitmeyer to see what is on the existing stone.

West Point Post Cemetery
Do you know anyone at West Point that could assist the following contributor:

Robert Jones
Contributor #47800038

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=47800038

His grandfather is buried at West Point, but the first name on his stone is incorrect:

Find A Grave Memorial# 132761118

Robert says he has his grandfather's enlistment papers and newspaper accounts of his death. I have suggested he also obtain a certificate of death.

If you have any suggestions or a contact for him I know he would appreciate it.
