Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Montgomery County Virginia and have live here all my life.

I enjoy looking for my ancestors and also enjoy helping other find theirs. I also believe that no one should pay for information on their Ancestors.

At this time I am researching the Bingham, Birchfield, Chumbley, Cole, Correll, Dickerson, Dudley, Eanes, Fowlkers, Guthrie, Hamm, Hall, Haley, Landreth, Lutz, Testerman, and Wickham Families.

If I have posted and you noticed a mistake please let me know and I will correct the mistake as soon as possible.

If you have added information for a person whose record I've created, please feel free to e-mail me, I will be happy to make any appropriate changes.

If a fmaily member of any memorial that I have place would like to take over the ownership of that memorial, please contact me I will be happy to transfer this to you, if this person is not one of my family members.

I am a photo volunteer but I can not do photo in Floyd Co. This is out of my way and I do not know that area.

Please make sure you have the right information when you ask for change to be make. I am have problem with people asking me to make change only to have a family member contact me asked me to make the change back. Do not assume that your information is right please check it out.

I would appreciate it if you would not put a Head stone picture on the memorial if there is already one on the memorial. Maybe you think yours is better and maybe it is but one picture is all that is needed and that way someone else will have room for a picture of the person and the memorial will load faster.

Please do not put Death Record on the memorials they add nothing to the Memorials lots of information on death record are wrong. (people are up set when they give the information).

Thanks Brenda..all my documents point to this being him, very exciting 1870 he is living with the Kipps with his sister and he is listed as an invalid. 1880 he is nowhere to be found. but I do have a death certificate with his name and birthdate and his wife is Martha. My great great grandmother was Nancy Jane Dudley who married H.M. Albert. She was the daughter of Robert Achilles and Cynthia Shufflebarger..are we Kin?

RE: Hamm Family
Oh my, cousin Brenda!!! Connecting with you is such a delightful Christmas present! It blows my mind and brings tears of emotion to think this happened from a connection on Find A Grave!!

I would LOVE to compare family notes and life stories!!

First, I was born in 1943 (actually in Roanoke Hospital). By that time my father was the only living child of parents who had lived at 108 Miller Street in C'burg since earth began! Therefore, from birth until my grandparents passed we either lived there or spent yearly vacations there. I actually lived there from Oct 1952 to June 1953 (when I was in the third grade) and Sept 1954 to Sept 1956 (when I was in 5th and 6th grades). My parents moved us to Michigan Sept 1956 where Daddy found work with General Motors. Were you in school in C'burg during any of that time?

I'm the daughter of:
William Clifton Haley (1915-2003) and Opal Catherine Cox Haley (1912-2000). It's Opal's line that runs through and near Ashe Cty, NC. From my birth until Oct 1952, daddy worked as a truck driver for Merida Bread Company with a delivery route that took him nightly from Salem to Pulaski and back. He then took a job at the Power Plant (I think it was in Blacksburg.) Between Oct 1952 and June 1953, he got the idea that making ammunition was a risky business. :-) His insatiable curiosity led us to spend a very educational and delightful next year living in Lebanon, Oregon. We return the following summer to get closer to "home."

My father William Clifton Haley (1915-2003) is the son of:
Archie Clifton "Cliff" Haley (1880-1963) and Jennie Alma Robinson/Robertson (1878-1970). Among earlier jobs, Cliff worked as a deputy sheriff in C'burg from at least as early as the 50s until his retirement. I'm confident he knew where all the stills were in the mountains. :-) I didn't experience him as being alcoholic, and I never saw him actually drunk, but he seemed to find a daily excuse for a "little tonic" which to my eyes was in a shot glass. :-)

Archie Clifton "Cliff" Haley (1880-1963) is the son of:
William Edward Haley (1853-1924) and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Shumaker Haley (1857-1950).

William Edward Haley (1853-1924) is the son of:
John Richard Haley (1825-1862) and Mary J. Mahone (1833-1880).

John Richard Haley (1825-1862) was a sibling to Henry Vincent Haley (1829-1913), whose parents are Pleasant Haley, Jr. (1790-?? ) and Mary Robertson Inge (1804-1885). SO THIS IS WHERE MY LINE AND YOUR LINE CROSS.

Pleasant Haley, Jr (c1790-1870) is the son of Pleasant Haley, Sr (1760-??1847?).

I'm having difficulty separating the events/lives for Pleasant SENIOR, Pleasant JUNIOR and Pleasant Tankersley (1837-1862). I would appreciate anything you can offer to help.

I see that Pleasant T. (1837-1862) died in the Civil War and Pleasant SENIOR fought in the Rev. War? Did Pleasant JUNIOR also fight in the Civil War as an old man?

Wives of Pleasant Haley,JUNIOR: I believe Mary Robertson Inge (1804-1885) and Elizabeth Inge (?- 1824) were both known "Polly." Maybe one is known as "Molly" and the other one is known as "Polly." Your thoughts on this?

I know that Pleasant Haley, JUNIOR's (c1790-1870 ) first wife is Elizabeth Inge (? - 1824), who is half sister to second wife Mary Robertson Inge (1804-1885).

I see that Pleasant Tankersley Haley (1837- 1862) [son of Pleasant Haley, JUNIOR] was also known as Pleasant T. Haley (1937-). I haven't yet seen a confirmation of a middle name for Pleasant Haley, Jr. (c1790-1870) or Pleasant Haley, Sr. (??8 FEB 1760 - Between 1843 and 1847). Your thoughts?

Pleasant Haley, SENIOR married Sarah Collings 20 Nov 1789 in Charlotte Cty, VA.

Pleasant Haley, SENIOR married Mary (Polly) Baize on 11 March 1838 in Overton County, TN. Polly was age 24; Pleasant was age 78. That would mean that Pleasant Haley SENIOR was born in 1760.

Since JUNIOR married "Mary" and SENIOR married a "Mary," I find the associated events are confusing.

Can you confirm any of this and go back further than Pleasant Haley SENIOR (1760-c1847).

We can also switch to email if you would like...

With joy and appreciation,

Nancy Haley Thompson

Hamm Family
Hi Brenda,

I see you're researching the Hamm Family. Can you trace them back to Grayson Cty, VA or Ashe Cty, NC? I'm guessing we're related with a thread though that line. Are you on Ancestry.com? My Ancestry research is under: RupardHaleyThompsonCurtis and my specific tree is "Nancy Cox-Haley Thompson." Would be fun to find a link!

Enjoy the season,

RE: Virginia Davis
Hi Brenda, I'm new at this, so I'm not quite sure what to do. I did sponsor a grave a few years ago, but I haven't yet done anything with my slew of relatives in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. Virginia's (actually Sarah Virginia Haley Davis) record seemed to pop in last night, and I couldn't with good conscience pass it up.

I've been working on my mother's side of the family in Ashe County, NC; Smyth Cty, VA; and McDowell Cty, WV, and haven't yet-in recent history-spent much time with my Haley side. However, I spent three years in elementary school in C'burg back in the 50s. I lived in our family home with my grandparents at 108 Miller Street, where Virginia and my father grew up, and I have many good memories riding my bike to Sunset Cemetery and hanging out in the peaceful setting. I haven't been back in town for decades, but I have lots of info gently bundled in love that I could enter in Find-A-Grave memorials there. Guess I need to get to work!

How do you fit into this? Do you live in C'burg? I sure appreciate your efforts in getting these memorials online!

Have a nice Christmas season!

RE: Sowers
Thank you so much, Brenda. I would really appreciate receiving the Sowers pictures.
My grandmother's family are Bower. Would it be possible to send pictures of them if there aren't too many for you to do from the St. Matthews Cemetery?
Also, I have found a small cemetery called Bower Cemetery on Dobbins Rd. listed through Findagrave. Are you familiar with it? It is possible they may be related to my grandmother. Lewis Bower and Nancy Bowman are listed & could be her grandparents.
There are so many Sowers in Montgomery County listed in various cemeteries. I try to research the names that are the same as many of the Sower siblings. Thank you, again, for all your assistance.
