Bio Photo Being a Find A Grave photo contributor is the most rewarding & constructive hobby I've ever taken up.. You have my consent to use any of the headstone or plot photos that I've loaded to memorials.. If I've created a memorial for a family member or friend of yours, I'm more than willing to transfer them to you.. I'm not looking to own high numbers of memorials, my intentions as a contributor are.. first.. to help document the cemeteries.. and secondly.. to help family members find their ancestors more easily.. So even if you don't necessarily fit the Find A Grave 'guidelines' for requesting a transfer, don't let that deter you from asking.. My feelings are that if you've taken the time to contact me with a correction or addition to a memorial, then you qualify...

I also want to give special mention to my Find A Grave friend, Kris Daugherty/OSU1988. Kris has been a tremendous help to me by providing me with cemetery records for Williams County. These records have enabled me to add my photos to memorials with confidence. As many of you know, sometimes we encounter stones that have been so worn down by time and weather that they are unreadable. Her records allow me the ability to cross check the photos with placement of the graves and to identify those unreadable stones. THANK YOU KRIS!!!

Also, I came across this poem on another contributor's profile and it perfectly conveys my thoughts and feelings as I walk the cemeteries.. so with his permission I've borrowed it from his page and here it is..

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Mary Van Buskirk
Thanks, Sandi. Next time you get to Eagle Creek, please check Mary's grave marker. If it is broken, let me know, and I'll try to get there next summer some time to fix it, if I can. In your photo, it looks as if the top part is sitting loose on the base. When I was there last it was on the ground, leaning against the base.

Van Buskirks
Sandi,
I see it was you who had that information about Joseph in Indiana. Duh. When did you first post that? Great info. I was somewhat confused and thought he lived with a son in Indiana whose first name was Thomas. There are pictures of all these people from a big album that must have belonged to Emiline (Van Buskirk) Bordner. When she died my grandpa Melvin Brown must have taken care of it, and it eventually came to my dad.
Thanks again.

RE: Anna Adair
Sandi,
Thanks for the reply. Always interesting to correspond with you. Glad you like the photos. I feel lucky to have so many photos of ancestors, since I know most people have none at all.
I have one of Mary and Joseph Van Buskirk and will post it at Mary's page. Somebody posted something on the grave of Joseph somewhere but I can't find it. Might have been on ancestry. The person had found that he died in Indians when living with Alice Thomas his youngest daughter. I have a letter Alice wrote to her sister Emiline talking about his some.
I'd just as soon not have management of the sites just yet, if you don't mind. I know you have thousands, but I probably won't have much time to do anything much with them any time soon. Maybe later, and thanks for the offer. I did take over some pages for my Brown family graves in Michigan but haven't done anything with them. Not even pictures.
Thanks for all you do.

Anna Adair
Hi Sandi,
I added a photo to the memorial for her that show her with her husband, W. C Adair. I also added one to his memorial that shows just him.
