Thoughts of my loved ones are my reminders that they too think of and watch over me.|
My passion at find-a-grave is reuniting the memorials of children with their parents and siblings. For so many years and miles their names have been separated and unconnected.
I appreciate every photo taken for me and will do the same for anyone that I can.
My permission is hereby granted to anyone who wants to download, copy, or use any photos that I have posted on the Find-A-Grave website.
I sincerely hope that I have helped others make discoveries and the connections that they have been trying to make.
Virtual flowers are appreciated.

Hello and thank you for the memorial for my 2nd great uncle, Frank E Armstrong memorial #63400903. Do you think his middle name could be Edwin rather than Edward? Another FG member has found a possible record for him in the 1880 census, if his middle name could be Edwin. I manage Frank's father's memorial, and have mentioned Frank in that memorial, and want to get his middle name correct. Thank you. Mary Leppla FG member #48339058.

Anna Higgins: b: 7 Oct 1879 in Auburn Nemaha Nebraska, daughter of Henry Floyd Higgins 1852-1935 and Sarah Eliabeth Gill 1854-1934. both buried in Glenrock Cemetery, Nemaha county Nebraska but their daughter Anna is not listed among their children. Anna and Otis B Sloan were married around 1907 [reference not found yet].
Children: Otis Quentin Sloan 1908-1990, Wayne H Sloan 1909-1967, Elizabeth "Betty" Sloan Hedrick 1911-1977, Dorothy Alice Avey 1913-1997, and Hazel Alberta Sloan Klimek 1919-1973.
Anna Higgins Sloan died 22 January 1967 in Fullerton, Orange, California. I have been unable to find a grave listed for her.
My half-brother recently passed and his children have sent me a box of old photos, circ 1900s, which include William Marcellus Sloan and wife Mary Ellen Drullinger with children & grandchildren. I am posting them on my Cates-Sloan Family tree on Ancestry.com trying to id as many as possible. My father and his sister are among the grandchildren and Otis, Oral, William, Court, Hobart & Bertha are in one or another photo. Born in 1936 I did meet a few of them and my grandmother's hand has added some clues on the back of a few.. Hope all this helps you a little. Thank you for the beautiful job on Otis B Sloan Find A Grave--well done!
Any hints on how to set up a virtual cemetery. I have some inlaws who were cremated and their church has a "memorial garden" with names on a huge marble stone. I would like to put a Find A Grave memorial up for them but am not sure how to go about it.

I have offered a correction for this memorial as the name and dates on the headstone match my great uncle Otis Sloan who was indeed the husband of Anna Higgins [1879 - 1967). However the Indiana Death Certificate with information provided by Anna and supported by my research says he was born on 19 May 1874 in Veedersburg, Fountain, Indiana and died 16 Dec 1918 in Cayuga, Vermilion Indiana of pneumonia after a month long illness of influenza. However, it is entirely possible that there is another Otis Sloan in this grave who was not married to Anna Higgins. I would not want to change information in that case but would look for another Otis Sloan buried in Nemaha county. Thank you for your great work and the time spent in matching us with our ancestors! I have information on Otis Sloan's parents, wife, siblings and 6 children with Anna if you are interested.

I consider it an honor to place his memorial into the hands of a descendant. I know you will handle it with loving care.

My apology. Yes, of course I understand and totally respect your wishes on this. Thanks once again for posting and managing the memorial to our worthy ancestor!

Glad to help. Thank you for adding her info.

Oh how I regret that the person who did the walk-down is not available. Information I had received prior to your post said the last walkdown was done by the WPA or some such group in 1934.
I have tried contacting Woodland in the past but have not received a reply. I will try again.
Woodland Cemetery, Stamford, CT
I am Max's great-grandgranddaughter. I have not been able to locate his grave. I have strong feelings that he is not in this gravesite which is a family gravesite holding his EX WIFE, in-laws, daughter, son. Previously the find a grave search result did not include the death date of 1927 although that is supposed to be correct per his 2nd family. Can you provide me with backup that he is indeed buried here which is not likely or tell me who has supplied the death date. I believe the headstone was set prior to the deaths of his 1st wife Margaretta and him and his death date is not actually on the headstone. His 2nd family does not have information re: his place of death or burial as far as I know.
Transfer of your father's first cousin, Bernadette Tacker, done.

I could not find a map of Woodland Cemetery in Stamford CT online and there is isn't time to have one sent to me from the cemetery so they said they would leave one for me on the day I come, which is a time they are not normally open.
However, in case it disappears, may I ask you if you remember the general location of Sec D: is it to the right of the gate, towards the back or the front, etc?
And if you have a copy of the cemetery plot could you possibly take a digital photo and send it to my email which I will give you if you provide me your email or other contact info. (I asked the cemetery if they would do this but they said they did not have that capability.
