Walking, I am listening to a deeper way.
Suddenly all my ancestors are behind me.
Be still, they say. Watch and listen.
You are the result of the love of thousands.
~ Linda Hogan (1947-present)

THE FORGOTTEN GRAVE

After a hundred years
Nobody knows the place, --
Agony, that enacted there,
Motionless as peace.

Weeds triumphant ranged,
Strangers strolled and spelled
At the lone orthography
Of the elder dead.
Winds of summer fields
Recollect the way, --
Instinct picking up the key
Dropped by memory.
~ Emily Dickinson

Let no religious rite be done or read
In any place for me when I am dead,
But burn my body into ash, and scatter
The ash in secret into running water,
Or on the windy down, and let none see;
And then thank God that there's an end of me.

A COUNTRY BURIAL

Ample make this bed.
Make this bed with awe;
In it wait till judgment break
Excellent and fair.
Be its mattress straight,
Be its pillow round;
Let no sunrise' yellow noise
Interrupt this ground
~ Emily Dickinson

I see your post for Thomas Bradley. His mother is grand-aunt of my husband. Are you familiar with his family?

Zappa edit
Ruth,
Thanks for the Zappa edit suggestion. I just happened to stumble onto the Zappa headstone while in the cemetery searching for ancestors so if you would like me to transfer them to you just let me know. I'd be happy to do so.
Really enjoyed reading the quotes & poetry you have in your profile.
John

Frances Marie Milford
She is on the stone with Louis Wesley Milford so I left her linked as his spouse. I removed the link to James Milford until it is verified that she was also his spouse. Do you know the relationships?

Fredda Fields
Ruth, I went to Honey Creek Woodlands Cemetery Saturday to fulfill your picture request on Fredda Fields. I was not able to take the picture then but will be making an appointment to go again as soon as I can. This cemetery is located on land belonging to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit and is very beautiful far into the woods. The office is in the woods, approximately 6 tenths of a mile from the main road. I spoke with the Steward there and he pulled Fredda up on the computer and showed me where her grave is located and what her headstone looks like. She is listed as Fredda Blanchard-Fields. It is about another mile from the office to her and is accessible by golf cart. There is a website, honeycreekwoodlands.com, where you can view pictures of the cemetery area. This cemetery is like no other I have ever been in.
