Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired naval officer. I am addicted to genealogy. I love puttering around in cemeteries, even if I don't know any of the people there personally. I like to find and meet new cousins that I didn't know previously and share genealogical info with them. If you go back far enough, we are all cousins.

Families I am particularly interested in include:
Zellner, Coffey, Harrell, Welch, Hayes, Rucker, Hipsher/Hipshire, Lorenz, Slocum, and Adams.
I have a special interest in the genealogy of many of the families who settled in Grainger County, Tennessee. They intermarried early and often, and if you are kin to any of them, you are likely kin to all of them.
The Millers were Volga Germans who immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1875. I have lots of information on them and the other Volga German families they intermarried with. I am happy to share with anyone who is researching that area.

I am always happy to transfer to a relative, even a distant one (unless they are my relatives, too!). I don't mind managing all the records I have created, but I am more than happy to transfer them to someone else with a direct interest to manage.

Feel free to use any photo I have posted. I wouldn't have posted them, if I didn't want to share.

Good Hunting!

RE: Steven Billy Crouch
Thanks for responding. As I state in my Bio: I am not a "stickler" for the guidelines as they are only guidelines. I try to place memorials with family and even good friends as they should be. I will make the transfer to you.

hipsher / collins
Hi Rick - my great aunt Emmaline Lillie Collins married a Morgan Hipsher. I believe Morgan's dad was Jessie Hipsher. They were all from the Indian Creek Road area of Grainer County.
My other East Tennessee kin are Jackson, McCoy, Wolfe, Cook and Collins.
I bet we are related somehow! :)

Shane Michael Hipsher
Dear Sir,

I am so grateful to you because of the work you have done on my ancestry. I am a proud great great great grandson of Pvt William Lyndon Hipsher who fought for the CSA during the war. And to my knowledge he served the entire war. I noticed it says on Findagrave that he was discharged in 1864 but I have found other information from an old newspapers that he was paroled in 1865 with the rest of the 19th Tennessee Infantry Regiment. This could be wrong but I believe it to be the case. He had three brothers that fought for the CSA too. Wiley, Arch, David and Laffayette Hipsher. David and William Lyndon were the only two of the four brothers to survive. William Lyndon also had 7 or 8 cousinsto fight for the CSA. Three of which were KIA. Simeon Coffey was a cousin, uncle or nephew that fought for the CSA too. I cannot recall which he was to WLH. But he had an uncle named Colbert Hipsher that had a higher rank than Private that fought for the CSA in the Cavalry I believe. Colbert had a son named Ransom Hipsher who fought for the CSA and survived. Ransom would have been William Lyndons cousin. I am so fascinated with my genealogy and have always been so interested in the Civil War ever since I was a young boy. I always sided with the CSA because I think I can understand why people fought here in East Tennessee for the CSA. And then to find out recently thatI had all these relatives that fought for the CSA and some gave their lives is just so amazing and I am so much more proud of my last name than I ever was before. I just cannot imagine all the stuff that my ancestors seen. Killings, hangings, rapes perhaps, slaves, limbs being cut off without anesthesia. My daddy has the two pictures of John H Hipsher that is on here. William Lyndons son John H is my great great papaw, then John H had William Goble who is my great papaw, then William Goble had William Luther who was my papaw, then William Luther had William Luther Jr. which is my father. William Lyndons fatherwas named William Landon Hipsher. William Landons father was Henry Hipsher Sr. and Findagrave has a picture of him. One reason I am writing you is because I have not been able to find any pictures of my relatives in their confederate uniforms. If you can help me that would be great. And I would also love to see what William Lyndon Hipsher looked liked. I think I may have found one pic of him but you cannot see it that well and I am not certain if it I him or not. Butif you could help me find any pictures that would be awesome and greatly appreciated. Or any information about his service during the war or any Hipshers. Any stories would be awesome. Thank you for all you have done.
