Bleakley Hart Cemetery Fort Knox
Hello James, I noticed you had photographed some of the head stones at the above cemetery. There are 3 grave markers without pictures which would be my ancestors by the name of Hart. Would you be able to recall if you remember seeing any markers for Harts there. They all died in the late 1700s and markers may not exist. We will be in the area in a few weeks and I was going to see if the Fort Knox folks might let me visit the cemetery if there is something to see. Thanks.

Aliza English
Good morning James. I'm researching my English family and had the pleasure of a personal tour of Fort Knox Cemeteries in May. I happened upon a memorial of yours for Aliza English, 82113934. I visited the cemetery and couldn't find a tombstone. According to my records, my GGGrandfather's second wife was an Eliza McIntire English. They were married in 1828 and he remarried in 1835. That would be consistent with the passing of this Aliza English in 1833. GGGrandfather Lemuel is buried in Crandall Cemetery and many other of my ancestors are buried on the fort. I know the name spelling for the first name is different but I could have wrong information. Just wondered about your source for this memorial and if you had any other information. Thank you for any help you can provide. PS...Aliza/Eliza was not my ancestor. I am descended from his 3rd wife, Judith Ann Pearman English Hargan McIntire, buried in Cedar Creek.

Thanks. I looked at the death certificate. Says buried in Adams Co. Buried in Springfield cemetery. There is none in Adams Co, so I moved him.

Thank you so much for taking that picture and letting me know. I won't get to Kentucky soon, and this is great.

Best,

RE: Lewis Parker
Hello James, good to hear from you.

Lewis Parker is my third great grandfather and believe me, they are all buried there. You're right, it is a small cemetery but, our grandmother made sure we knew. In those days there were a few more markers and some sites marked with just field stones. Most of them, perhaps all, are buried in coffins just big enough for their bodies, nothing like what they do, today so, they didn't need a huge space. I would be thrilled to see your addition to the site.
Thanks, Helen
