2012-- from Upper Tract, West Virginia|
Two years ago I had no idea where most of my ancestors were buried. I googled my g-g-grandfathers Isaac Alt and Alfred Kimble and found them on this site. I thought I might be able to link my family to them. That's how I got started. I had my sister go with me to show me where the Shreve and Kimble graveyards were in Smoke Hole. I must have caught some kind of bug in those graveyards that I can't get over. I'm adding the graveyards in the Upper Tract area. Most of them are not my relatives so if any one would like a transfer or link made just let me know. Feel free to copy any photos on my memorials for personal use. If added to another site, it would be nice to state where it was found. Let me know if you find any mistakes for I know they will be some.
I would to thank Jennie Hott for asking me to help record the updates for the cemeteries in the Upper Tract,Kline, Smoke Hole area for the new Pendleton County grave register that the historical Society has done. Also thanks to Denton Alt and Jack Hedrick for taking me and finding the cemeteries.
The following poem was written in 1906 by Walter Butler Palmer.
Your tombstone now,stands among the rest; Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out on polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care, It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist, You died before I was born.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse, Entirely not our own.
Dear Grandfather, the place you filled One hundred years ago.
Spreads out among the ones you left, Who would have loved you so.
I wonder how you lived and loved, I wander if you knew,
That someday I would find this spot, And come and visit you.

|Mark Aschenbrenner||Your thoughts on Mallow #16|
Now that the book " The Dark Side of the Mountain" has been released. Mostly fact and some fiction in my thoughts. I ask this knowing you've been there! Do you think it would be wrong to add Anna "Mary" Miller Mallow the wife of Johann Michael.? It seems with all the history that lies there in beautiful West Virginia..............She should be remembered! I'm not a direct family member of them per say. But even if no stone exists ................a memorial should be placed on this site at this designated cemetery.
Please give me your thoughts. Thanks for all the efforts you have made on behalf of these families.
Hi and Happy Thanksgiving to you and all yours, Bud.
PS Don't forget if you would like me to transfer any just give me a nudge. BB

|Ken Kimble||RE: Nicholas Kimble descendant|
I'd really appreciate it if you would email those two things to me. My email is email@example.com.
Do you know where all they lived (especially during the period 1800-1850)?
I started playing with Ancestry.com a few months ago and now I am hooked.
I've collected a lot of links in my tree (Kenneth Family Tree) if you are interested. We have family in Wooster, OH who had done a very accurate trace back to Nicholas. I lived in Lima, OH (now in Tennessee) and have visted the graves back to Nicholas' son Joseph (my great grandfather).
|Ken Kimble||Nicholas Kimble descendant|
I am a direct descendant of Nicholas Kimble. I note that on your web page "http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=47432041" there is are two lists of children of John and Rebecca (Hannah) Kimble, the top one includes Nicholas and the bottom one does not. Have you any info on this curiosity? I have not yet found any solid proof that Nicholas is the son of John or Rebecca.

Thanks for the transfer Richard but you didn't have to do that. You did all the leg work but I appreciate it. Diane
Thank you for the information, please read my profile if there is other information for these memorials.

|Cindi Foley||Alexander grave yard|
Richard, thank you so much for updating the photos of the Alexander Grave yard. I was informed of the update by Craig Wilson. I had contacted Craig a few years ago trying to find info on the Alexander's. Samuel Edward Alexander and Elizabeth Wiltison are my great grandparents. I especially liked the full picture of the cemetary. I am hoping yo visit in 2016 to see it. I live in Washington state. Thanks again, Cindi Foley

You had approved an edit for me with the maiden name being Weese, this was incorrect, Weese was her first husbands name, Parsons was her maiden name... Sorry, just found out today....
