Bio Photo 2012-- from Upper Tract, West Virginia
Two years ago I had no idea where most of my ancestors were buried. I googled my g-g-grandfathers Isaac Alt and Alfred Kimble and found them on this site. I thought I might be able to link my family to them. That's how I got started. I had my sister go with me to show me where the Shreve and Kimble graveyards were in Smoke Hole. I must have caught some kind of bug in those graveyards that I can't get over. I'm adding the graveyards in the Upper Tract area. Most of them are not my relatives so if any one would like a transfer or link made just let me know. Feel free to copy any photos on my memorials for personal use. If added to another site, it would be nice to state where it was found. Let me know if you find any mistakes for I know they will be some.
I would to thank Jennie Hott for asking me to help record the updates for the cemeteries in the Upper Tract,Kline, Smoke Hole area for the new Pendleton County grave register that the historical Society has done. Also thanks to Denton Alt and Jack Hedrick for taking me and finding the cemeteries.

The following poem was written in 1906 by Walter Butler Palmer.

Dear Grandfather,
Your tombstone now, stands among the rest; Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out on polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care, It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist, You died before I was born.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse, Entirely not our own.
Dear Grandfather, the place you filled One hundred years ago.
Spreads out among the ones you left, Who would have loved you so.
I wonder how you lived and loved, I wander if you knew,
That someday I would find this spot, And come and visit you.

Amtower Cemetery on Oakdale Rd. near Scherr
My name is Barbara Amtower Carver. I did extensive research on the Amthor (Amtower) family. The info on the large tombstone is taken directly from my research. Adam Amtower is not buried with his family there. He is buried at Queens/Meadow Point Cemetery at Keyser, WV. Would you please remove him from this cemetery? Thank you!

RE: Alt cemetery
Many years ago when my family had their reunion in the Smoke Hole park (Shreve/Alt) I remember some of the family walking through the park into a field and then walking up the mountain to go to a family cemetery. Would this be the cemetery I am looking for? And would it be easier to find the cemetery this way. I know the gate at the park is closed. But I guess I could park along the road and walk back in.

How do I get to the Alt cemetery where Michael Alt (1831-1902) is buried?

Joy Ann (Huffman) Kisamore Judy
Hi Richard, On Joy Ann(Huffman) Judy #99299550 you have her first husband listed as Vivan Huffman. It is actually Vivian Andrew Kisamore - #110062304. They were married in Pendleton Co.,WV on Sept 5 1965. She was 18 and he was 25. He is the son of Elmer Kisamore & Mabel Sites. I'm sorry I sent the wrong msg. the other day...just going too fast. My families are - Kisamore, Judy, Graham, Kile, Harper, Pennington, and others. I have physically searched many of the court houses, cemeteries, libraries, etc. in most of the upper West Virginia counties (I live in Illinois) and have been addicted to my family history for about 30 years. One of the greatest finds was visiting the Kile cemetery in Upper Tract, WV. I value the information on Find A Grave. On any of my postings if you see anything that should be corrected...or you want more information, I'll try to answer what I can. Good luck in your continued search and contributions.

RE: Joy Ann Judy
Thank you Richard. I meant to send you a message that I hit the button too soon...right when I realized I had entered the wrong memorial #. She should be linked to her first husband, Vivian KISAMORE. Thanks Again!
