from Upper Tract, West Virginia Two years ago I had no idea where most of my ancestors were buried. I googled my g-g-grandfathers Isaac Alt and Alfred Kimble and found them on this site. I thought I might be able to link my family to them. That's how I got started. I had my sister go with me to show me where the Shreve and Kimble graveyards were in Smoke Holes. I must have caught some kind of bug in those graveyards that I can't get over. I'm adding the graveyards in the Upper Tract area. Most of them are not my relatives so if any one would like a transfer or link made just let me know. Feel free to copy any photos on my memorials. Let me know if you find any mistakes for I know they will be some. The following poem was written in 1906 by Walter Butler Palmer.
Dear Grandfather, Your tombstone now, stands among the rest; Neglected and alone. The name and date are chiseled out on polished, marbled stone. It reaches out to all who care, It is too late to mourn. You did not know that I exist, You died before I was born. Our blood contracts and beats a pulse, Entirely not our own. Dear Grandfather, the place you filled One hundred years ago. Spreads out among the ones you left, Who would have loved you so. I wonder how you lived and loved, I wander if you knew, That someday I would find this spot, And come and visit you. | |

 | Ward Cemetery Richard, did you by any chance take a photo of the entrance and/or sign for this cemetery? I just noticed one has not been posted for the cemetery. It would be nice to have one added. Also, if you can provide me with directions to the cemetery, I'll be happy to add that as well.
Thanks, Glenda | | | GLENDA EISENHOUR
