I live in the East Riding of Yorkshire in England and am willing to look for graves etc in the local area.

I am trying to make a full record of the cemeteries I live near and am using local history records to add in the details for headstones which I cannot read or are missing. I started this when tracing my own family tree and my aim is to help anyone tracing their family. I do not want to upset anyone, so if anyone wants me to remove or transfer memorials please let me know.

Tip (Copied from England Discussion Forum):
To do a search for cemetery or churchyard in a particular county go to cemetery search and begin with a full search for all in England. Find-A-Grave will say that there are too many records and that you should go back and refine the search so that it returns fewer results. Ignore this and in the address bar at the top of the screen, where the url reads:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=csr&CScn=&CScntry=5&CSst=0 replace the 0 at the end with one of the following codes. There may still be several pages of cemeteries in the list for the county, but it is easier to look through

john and ettie Earle buried Middleton Tyas
Hi, I just found your website, thank you so much for the photo of the grave of John and E Earle at St Michael and All Angels, Middleton Tyas. Can you update the information, the E is for Ettie, a nickname for Rosetta Atkinson born Methley, Yorks, on 10.3.1865. (My ancestor) . John Earle was a farmer at Kirkbridge Farm, Stanwick St John.

RE: John Hinton, Knight and MD
Thanks Charlie:

I agree you and this is the reason for my wanting more information about this grave marker.

Sir John Hinton, M.D. died in St. Martin in the Fields and I don't find a death record for him there. It is more probable that a family member buried him in the Chilton Foliat Churchyard in Chilton Foliat, Wiltshire where he was born and where his parents are buried. They were Sir Thomas Hinton and Katherine Palmer.

I was sent the old map of the Chilton Foliat Churchyard and there are NOT any Hinton or Palmer names buried shown buried there even though the map is dated in the late 1500s.

It is likely that at LEAST these three Hinton family members are buried there as well as the infant daughter, Katherin Hinton who was born in 1598 and died the next year.

An old Bible with burials at Chilton Foliat has been donated to this Church, now known as St. Mary's Church, so when this scanning project is completed, perhaps we will have more definite information.

The son of Sir Thomas and Lady Mary Hinton, Thomas, married Lady Mary Margaret Popham (she lived 'down the road' in the Littlecot house (not little at all!)

Thanks again, Charles,

Margie Hinton

Amelia Binks
Hi Charlie,
I just entered a transcription for a photo you had uploaded and didn't realize that I could add the extra names through that page since there are a few names on this same stone.
It was Amelia Binks in Northern Cemetery.
You may want to re-upload it so that it can be added to the memorials for the last few names on the stone.
Sorry, still learning the ropes on the new beta program !

William Rimmer Watkinson
Dear Charlie,

Last week, I was in Southport, where I saw the grave of the parents of William Rimmer Watkinson. As he is mentioned thereon, I have added a photograph of it to the memorial you made of his grave in Ambleside; but, as yours shows his resting place, it would be right for that to take pride of place, so may I suggest that you adjust the photo order, so that your picture is on top?

Also, can you please connect W.R.W. with his parents?

William Watkinson: 137241921
Mary Jane Watkinson: 137273886

I can't do either of these things myself, as you are the owner of the page.

Many thanks,

Iain.
