Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am originally from Indiana and was always delighted by the stories my grandparents would tell about our ancestry. I finally began my search and years later I have gathered many details, some better documented than others, and met numerous cousins.

Good morning! My name is Allison Sachs Smith and I think I may be descended from Leonard and Eva Seitz who came over from Germany. I noticed your last name was Seitz and was wondering if you had done any research. I'd love to compare notes if you found anything!

RE: finding the cemetery
Hi David,

Yes, the cemetery is off the road about 10-20 yards in a wooded area between two homes (the county considers the property abandoned). The address 8042 Greenwich Rd, Catlett, Fauquier County, Virginia 20119 doesn't actually exist (I made-up the number based on the street addresses of the homes to the left and the right) but a GPS devise or Google Maps would put that address right at the cemetery. I posted a couple more images today showing the relation of the cemetery to the road and nearby fence. There's lots of poison ivy back there, so be careful; after the first hard frost I'll head back and take a closer look for gravestones that have fallen over and been covered by growth.

These GPS Coordinates, Latitude: 38.70623, Longitude: -77.66584, will put your right onto the gravestone.,+-77.66584

Good luck and God bless,

RE: John Seitz
Sorry, don't know anything about your family. Memorials were entered from some old notebooks that my sister and I filled out while walking cemeteries in Dearborn County over 50 years ago. Back then photographs were dear in price, so we did a lot of handwriting of the records while we searched for our great-great-grandmother. Not like today when I can walk a cemetery with my digital camera in hand, snapping photos without a care!

If you would like the transfer of your great grandfather, I'd be happy to give him to you.
