I spend a lot of time in cemeteries, photographing, verifying and cleaning up gravesites, for the Historical Society, myself and Find-a-grave. It can be a lot of work, but the pleasure and satisfaction I receive is worth it all. I have many more pictures of headstones to be added to this site, as time allows, in cemeteries from the West coast to the East coast.|
I will be glad to look for your ancestor's grave in Lancaster County, PA, IF you have basic information to help me with your search.
I will, also be glad to transfer your ancestors grave to you, IF IT FALLS WITHIN FIND-A-GRAVES GUIDELINES AND IS NOT IN MY OWN FAMILY LINE.
I will add obituaries, but please do not ask me to add unverified biographies, and information that is only of interest to you. (trips you shared, hobbies of deceased, how they were sweet to you at Christmas, where they lived in the 1930 census, etc.) After all, this is not a genealogy site, but is a tool that can help Cemetery Historians as well as family historians and genealogists, alike.
I may on occasion add little sayings on headstones at your request, HOWEVER, it is up to my discretion. If you have something to add that I have mentioned above, please contact me and I will be more than happy to add it for you. I will be more than happy to link them to children, parents and spouses.
I have been inundated recently to add things like, "Sister" or "Mother." I feel the most important things on Memorials are Name, Dates and family links. I will add Biographies as long as it is just that, and not things like "My granny baked the best cookies" etc. I just do not have time to do that sort of thing.
I have received quite a few requests to transfer listings and thought this might be a good time to change my profile information to reflect my personal policy.
Enjoy my blog on graveyards, I've listed the URL below!

Just noticed there are two of the same photos of Jane Sample Long's gravestone....
Would you consider deleting one of the photo?
Her number is: 36174796.
As always, I appreciate all your work in family research - especially in Lancaster Co, Pa.
Hello Jim and Linda,
I'm writing to ask if I have your permission to post some of your headstone photos in my public family tree? In any case, I very much appreciate the excellent photos posted here and your time and efforts!

Linda, I didn't realize that you know my brother. I just came across this message today! I haven't been on Find A Grave for awhile. I hope all is going well in PA. God bless you for the work you put forth. Doris
|James Mayfield||Von Breyman|
I added the info to the Von Breyman's, and transfered Eugene to you. Do you want me to transfer his wife, Elva too?
|Lisa Winner Haas||Steele|
Thanks much for adding Anna Steele's maiden name.
|Ellspeth Roberts||Abraham & Elizabeth Applebach|
Thank you so much for transferring my gr-grandparents to me.
Thanks also for all your great work with this data base.
|Lee Ancestor||Alexander Lee|
My apologies for not following the correct process. I was not sure how to handle my request. It's possible there was another Alexander Lee.
However, unless there was another Alexander "Rigdon" Lee, at least some of the info you have is incorrect.
My Alexander was born 1830 in Lower Chanceford (sp?), Pa. He married Mary Ann Walker (born 1839 and died 1892). Alex died 1907. I have his Civil War records and his death certificate, amongst other papers. I saw another grave marker with his initials in the Slateridge Cemetery, but it is not my gr-gr-grandfather's. I'm not aware of who that was.
Thank you for refreshing me on the rules of findagrave. I hope my info will help clarify the dilemma.
|Lee Ancestor||Alexander R. Lee|
Would you please delete the "entire" information you have on my gr-gr-grandfather, Alexander R. Lee? The information is incorrect and I have since put him on findagrave with corrected info.
Thank you for your effort and for what you do to help those of us who live so far away.
