The Elusive Ancestor

I went searching for an ancestor. I cannot find him still.

He moved around from place to place and did not leave a will.

He married where a courthouse burned. He mended all his fences.

He avoided any man who came to take the U.S. Census.

He always kept his luggage packed, this man who had no fame.

And every 20 years or so, this rascal changed his name.

His parents came from Europe. They should be upon some list of passengers
to U.S.A., but somehow they got missed.

And no one else in this world is searching for this man.

So, I play geneasolitaire to find him if I can.

I'm told he's buried in a plot, with tombstone he was blessed; but the
weather took engraving, and some vandals took the rest.

He died before the county clerks decided to keep records.

No Family Bible has emerged, in spite of all my efforts.

To top it off this ancestor, who caused me many groans,

Just to give me one more pain, betrothed a girl named JONES.

RE: Stearns in Pine Grove Cem
Thanks,
I have found a lot of that info as well, Philancy spent most of her later years living with her daughter (Anna) and my GGrandfather Alpheus Graves. I have hit a dead end on the whereabouts of Warren Stearns after the end of the war. Thanks for the war data I didn't have most of it. I found a VA widow record that shows he died in 1911, reported by the Buffalo VA Center, though.

Stearns in Pine Grove Cem
Was in Lansing today and tripped across the old section of Pine Grove Cemetery (on Ludlowville Road) Found My Great Uncle and his wife. James H Stearns (#9482492) and Adelle D Stearns (#9482470). I took photos of the three stones and would like to add them. Also I would like to link his mother to him (Philancy Stearns #109585376 in Cortland Rural) and his sister if its possible to link siblings.
Thanks

Cedar Hill Cemetery Allegrettis
It looks like the information I sent you for Peter Allegretti Sr. and his wife Ulia all went through. I had also sent information for Peter and Ulia's sons Peter Jr. and Sante. I've re-sent the information for Peter Jr. and Sante using the individual edit tabs for birth/death date and relationships, rather than the "other corrections" tab I used before that sends an e-mail. (I hope this is what you meant when you asked me to re-submit it.) I did think it was odd that it was a day and a half later before I got the copies of the messages I had sent, which usually come instantly--I suspected something might have gone wrong. Anyway, I've also added a gravestone picture for Ulia Allegretti's current page--there was a first memorial for her that I had added the picture to a few days ago that is gone now.

Find A Grave Memorial# 101542767, I was desperately trying to figure out if you are kin to Robert Adams. You posted a picture and I have been trying to find my kin. I am on ancestry. You seem to have same info except his birth day is earlier than 1091 which most of the census is saying. His wife is same as Blanche as your listing and he has daughters Carol, Olive and then Joyce who is adopted by him. So I cant imagine this not being him. Please help. He is my Grand Uncle I never got to meet. Diane 281-844-3148

Roseann Lunn Leonard
Carl M. Dennis and Norma Lynch Dennis
Hello Kay, My name is Roseann Leonard and I have been looking all over for Carl A. Dennis's gravesite. I have found this one however in the Quick Cemetery and it is in the absolutely correct place I would have expected but the middle initial is wrong. Instead of A. the initial on the printout is M. Could there possibly be a mistake? I am stuck out here in the state of Washington and I am not able to return to NY all that much so therefore I am asking for your help. Carl M. Dennis also has a wife at the Quick Cemetery also by the name of Norma Lynch Dennis. Is there any way to get any more information on her? I have gotten a few hints on Ancestry but that is all. I am really looking for something concrete to link her with my Grand Uncle Carl A Dennis in case there is a mistake with his middle initial. I will give you the dates, Carl A. (M.) Dennis was born in 1902 in Caroline, Tompkins Co, NY and passed away in that same area but not exactly sure where. He was married and had 2 children with a woman named Delphine but I cannot find her maiden name. They lived in that same area and they divorced in the 40's or 50's. At some time according to the headstones he married Norma Lynch and she was born and raised in Ithaca, Tompkins, NY and passed Dec 31, 1995. Her Find A Grave Memorial # is 99474831 and Carl's is 99474755. I have no idea what information you have available but whatever you can find out would be a great help to me. I guess 1. Is Carl Dennis's middle initial really an M. or is it really an A., and can you tell me anything at all about either one of them? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this message and any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Roseann Leonard rose4483@rocketmail.com
