 | Petrys Cemetery Cathy;
Request on changes has been made, a photo of Archie Corbin will be furnished, I don't know what happened, but it was my mistake. Archie's, father was he Rev. G. R. Corbin 1870-1947. There are many others buried at Petry's Cemetery, but no markers. | | | Catahoula Hound
 | RE: Jefferson County cemetery names It is our understanding that Pear Orchard & Blanchette are two different cemeteries.
Blanchette-Hebert Cemetery was its original name over the years it became just Blanchette Cemetery. The cemetery land was donated by Blanchette-Hebert brothers who purchased 75 acres in the Pear Orchard community of Beaumont which they divided and sold lots in the early 1900's. They also donated land for the first African American school in the community and the land for Blanchette cemetery. However, Pear Orchard cemetery and Blanchette cemetery are on the side of street but a different area of the block. Some areas across the street are called Blanchette and the other area is called Fleming Cemetery. Not familiar with exact boundaries but familiar with the general area. The Catholic cemetery, Blessed Sacrament Cemetery covers an entire block at the corner Inca & Broussard but it is also across the street from Pear Orchard Cemetery, Blanchette, and Fleming cemeteries. Hope this clears up some of the confusion but we would love have more definitive boundaries for the cemeteries above mentioned.
Good Luck! | | | Phil & Beth Hutson

 | Nellie Dawkins Cathy -- Thank you for the information regarding the location of the (unused) grave marker, and for the photo. I have added information to her memorial that will hopefully explain the situation and record discrepancies. Now I wonder about the story behind all this ........Added by Darlene on Nov 23, 2012 6:54 PM | | | FamilyTreeBuilder
 | Thank you! Thank you so much for the picture. I really appreciate it. I also updated the spelling of her name to match the headstone. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! | | | Suzanna ღ Ashworth
 | David H Ashworth Thanks for the update, I didn't know about his military enlistment. He is not a direct descendant but a distant cousin. | | | | [View all messages...] |
