Hello All! My name is Sharon Shown as you can see by the bio. I am the oldest child and daughter of Roy Lee Shown, Sr and |
Sally Jane Toler Shown.
I have been interested in general history all of my life but have only gotten involved in my own family genealogy for the past 10 years. My mother was actually interested in the pursuit of our ancestry but died long before other family members pursued this. I began my search again when a niece had already been doing the ancestry on one side of the family for a number of years. There was so much left to do and being the eldest in my direct line on my Daddy's side I thought I should get involved. I wanted to be able to present my children and grandchildren with 'their own history' should the Lord tarry and something happened to me. See, they would now have answers and they wouldn't be like my father was when I was young. He was only making guesses about where we came from...he really had no clue. One thing for sure I have found is that most everyone will have the 'nagging' questions come to them, "Who Am I? "Where Did I Come From?" With these questions being partly answered for my children, grandchildren and any other curious relatives then they can know...something. My main objectives are as follows:
* FOR MY FAMILY HERITAGE
* SETTING UP NON-RELATIVES AS FOLLOWS:
*** 1] JOINING AS MANY DIRECT FAMILY AS LED
*** 2] TO CREATE MEMORIALS WITH LOVE & CARE
*** 3] TO THEN TRANSFER TO THOSE DIRECT FAMILIES
Life is too short to wonder...why not provide at least some of the answers to some of the ancestor's questions.
If there are any memorials which are of your family members that are not a part of my family line, please 'click' edit on that particular memorial and submit a request to transfer and I will gladly do so.
For the record, I am doing this out of a love for my family members and to join other families that have an interest. I will never prevent a family from having their own direct line memorial but as you can guess there may be more than one request. The guideline for transfer will be on a first-come, first-served request. This way each family will have their own family memorials to cherish and lead others in their family to view and to become involved.
Additionally, I will say this is even more important because there are young children and infants who have either no grave marker(but have sources to prove of their demise)or who do have one but have seemingly been 'forgotten'. I recently added a memorial which had listed two persons who had per-deceased them but there was one 'little one' who had been 'forgotten'. Since both of the parents were now deceased there was a possibility that the ones living would never know about this young and precious relative.
As an end note, I would add that there are no limitations from another person procuring a photo or any other information for their families own use. After all, that is what it is there for...to share.

I got your name off Jack Sawyer profile page, anyway I do the genealogy for all the Deskins lines, and it sounded like you did it for the Sawyers, hoping you can help me locating Albert D. Sawyer who married Cosby Worley, have no other info.
Eager to hear from you.

|Jimmy Lawson||RE: Wilford Carter|
Looking for information on Toliver Carter I found the photo that you posted for Wilford Carter in the Civil War Soldiers, It read Samuel Wilford Carter enlisted Rockingham Co. NC, age 19 13th NC infantry, Company H, wounded, rank Corporal, discharged after taking oath of allegiance in 1865. I believe the photo in of Find A Grave # 29685395, but I'm not positive. Either way it not Wilford Carter son of George Carter, he died in prison and was born ca. 1822.

I think the correct memorial for the photo is
Samuel W. Carter born 1842 F.A.G. # 29685395
|Jimmy Lawson||Wlford Carter|
The photo that you posted is of Samuel Wilford Carter age 19, he is from Rockingham Co., NC But he is not this Wilford Carter born 1822 age 40+ at this time. Both are listed in NC Troops, Samuel Wilford Carter served in the 13th infantry.

I am sorry but your request does not fall in Find A Grave's guidelines for transfers. Due to the attitude I have received from other contributers on Find A Grave when I have asked for the transfer of Aunts, Uncles and such, I follow the Find A Grave guidelines.
Again I am sorry.

Your bio was an absolute joy to read. I do family history for the very same reason. I needed to answer those important questions and I began that journey thirteen years ago. What a delight it has been!
I am not connected to the Humphries. Mary King Link Humphries was a sister to a Grand Great Aunt in my family. I recognized the names when visiting Person Co., NC back in 2001 and snapped the photo. All that to say, I am willing to transfer the memorial to you if you are related.
Happy memorial making!
