I'm always looking for opportunities to transfer memorials to people who are more closely related to, or more knowledgeable about the person. Just use the edit tab to request a transfer.

Many of the memorials which I have added are based on one of the following sources:

Marklesburg Reformed Cemetery

Marklesburg Union Cemetery

Mount Vernon and Lisbon Iowa Cemeteries

Mt Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Hunt. Co.

New Church Hill Cemetery, Juniata County

WPA Graves Registration Survey, Iowa

Kennekuk Cemetery, Kansas

Find A Grave Memorial# 139038140
Hi Bob - this is also duplicate of a 2012 memorial, Memorial# 92634452. Same person but both under different cemetery names in Marklesburg.

Mary McKown Haffley

Hi Bob - I've added Mary's obituary from 111 years ago to her Find A Grave entry. As you can see, both Mary and Jacob were known as the Haffleys at that time. I believe it was their children who dropped the "e" from the surname. Do you know if the gravemarkers are the originals? Also, the obit gives Mary's birthdate and place of birth which is always helpful.

Thank you for the refreshment lessons on Geography and History. I know better. A boatload of my ancestors are Scots-Irish. Northern Ireland and the Scots?????? It never even dawned on me to look for Northern Ireland. Good grief.

Mary McKown Haffley
Hi Bob - I've spent the day checking all the obits, etc in various newspapers (I've added Jacob HafflEy's to his Find A Grave with his correct death year of Sep 6 1909).

The 2 children by Catharine Ann Baker's first marriage to an unknown McKown were Mary (Haffley) and John (who died at some point before 1898 when his mother died and his half-brother Newt Akers died (Mary is listed in both obituaries, as a half-sister of Newt's). The McKown father remains elusive. He died sometime in the 1840s but that is all I know of him.

Hopefully you can verify whatever information you have and put Mary's maiden surname on her Find A Grave.

Thanks for your input (btw, I did read your post but it was not specific, saying that the information I sent was not the same that you had).

Are you related?

Sue

Mary McGowan (Mckown) Haffley
No problem if you don't want to place the accurate information. I have her obituary and her mother is my ancestor. I've placed the information on her Find A Grave site.

RE: Connecting Ralph Eyer with his parents
OK, thank you Bob! I have not done that before and am just now getting started in actively working in the site; have been viewing for awhile now. I'll figure that out and make some connections. Thank you.
