I really enjoy doing it and am always delighted when it helps others.
David - You are sure a missing link in my Ancestry search! My grandmother, (Maria) Mary Tacklind Marcoe b.1878, was Oscar Tacklind's sibling. Carl Wilhelm Tacklind b.1847 was my great-grandad. I had tracked the family to CA as I found Floyd Oscar Tacklind's death certificate. It listed one son, Thomas, & that is as far as I could go. Was kinda waiting for the 1940 Census records as that should give more names & places to look further. I have also found a grandchild of Nils Tacklind, also a sibling of Mary & Oscar, & we have traded information & pictures. I love pictures as they seem to make Ancestry come alive.
At Bethel Cemetery in Sumers Carl Wilhelm Tacklind's gravesite has Earl. We had found the site years ago which had the original concrete marker, & imagine because of age, that when they put the new metal markers in, they could not read it. My daughter, Sonja & I did the pictures last summer on a trip to the Kalispell-Missoula Area, and so far have not contacted anyone to make a note of the spelling error.
Are you on Ancestry? If not, would you be willing to give me the information on your Father's family, plus pictures. I could let you on as a guest on my family tree on Ancestry, & you could see the whole Tacklind family. I can also make it so you can see people that are alive. Others would not be able to see that information. I was very fortunate & took the desk & contents from my mother's estate when she died in 1996. It was full of pictures, news articles, & documents that I am now cataloguing so they will be preserved for future generations. I also work on Ancestry, but with 4 trees, sometimes you work on one tree, & get away from working on the others.
My husband & I live in Spokane, Washington & have adult daughters. He was originally a farmer from the area, & I was a teacher, but we have pursued many adventures. I have the original photo of the entire Carl Wilhelm Family & would be glad to share it. You may contact me Casey Hemmerling email@example.com & I will send it to you. Thanks for contacting me & am anxious to again hear from you. Casey
|David Tacklind||Tacklind family photo|
Hi Casey: Do you have a higher resolution photo of the old Tacklind family photo you can send me. We have never seen this photo until recently. I have photos left by my dad Floyd Oscar Tacklind of the three sons posing together as young men and some of my great grandfather and great grandmother.
The youngest boy in the photo Oscar is my grandfather. He married Rena Medcalf and had two sons Floyd Oscar and Earl. My grandfather Oscar died in 1918 in the flu epidemic and Earl died in the 1919 flu epidemic. My dad Floyd Oscar survived, was a WW2 hero and had eight children. His wife was LuVerne Servick. She died April 7, 2008 and my dad died March 13, 1986. Next month would be his 100th birthday.
Are you also a Tacklind. If so who is you grandfather?
respectfully yours; David Tacklind
