I am married and have 2 children.|
I welcome anyone to contact me who can help with the Daywood side of my family tree. My great great grandparents came to America from Beirut, Lebanon in 1882. I have lots of members I haven't found links to connect them to my branches and would love to get help!!
Other names in my tree include but are not limited too: Ray, Taylor, Jennings, Burleson, Dunnahoo, Joseph, Kanetsky, Lockwood, Romines, and Talk.
I live in Central Texas and don't mind helping anyone who needs help.
I am enjoying adding names and photos and offerings here at findagrave!! ;-)
I am currently the historian for the newly formed Daughters of the Republic Chapter Catherine Cynthia Overton , of Manor, Texas.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.
WORDS TO THE WISE:
WE COULD LEARN A LOT FROM CRAYONS:
SOME ARE SHARP, SOME PRETTY, SOME DULL.
SOME HAVE WEIRD NAMES AND ARE ALL DIFFERENT COLORS
BUT THEY ALL HAVE TO LIVE IN THE SAME BOX...

|dudley Smith||Find A Grave Memorial# 21505369|
Came upon some information that Lizzie Solomon maiden name is Caroline Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hunt. She married Alonzo Solomon in 1898. Her parents are John Andrews Hunt (Find A Grave Memorial# 42407721) and Mary A. Call.
Can you update Lizzie name information on the Memorial.
|Christine Czarnecki||Birthdate of John Sevier Hill|
Firstly, thank you so much for posting this clear photo of this elusive relative. I have been unable to find out much about his whereabouts for the last 20 year.
Secondly, I have submitted an edit for his birthdate. It was listed as January 26, but the tombstone says, to my reading, June 26.
I am a direct descendant of John S. Hill's younger brother, William Henry Hill, and also a DAR member in the El Palo Alto Chapter in Palo Alto, CA.
|Raye Smith||Leatherwoods in Jones Cemetery|
First let me thank you for creating & adding to these memorials.
I just wanted to point out an error though (sorry!).
The tombstone you posted to Jess Franklin Leatherwood was his wife's tombstone, Alice Odell Lee Leatherwood. That's why it says "Mother".
Jess Franklin's tombstone is actually on Find A Grave Memorial# 70215562. The memorial is a duplicate of Find A Grave Memorial# 69989724. The latter memorial is the one with all of the connections though!
Sorry for butting in, but I hope it'll help other researchers when they're digging into this branch of the Leatherwood clan.
|Scot Lady||The Ancestor Poem|
Donella, I had not seen that poem since I was a girl. My grandmother had a copy in her Bible, gave it to me, and sadly, I lost it during one of our many transfers from one Navy base to another.
Corrections? The lines, as I recall, were written as ... "Our veins contract", instead of "blood contracts", and "It is not too late", instead of "It is too late."
Thank you for refreshing a beautiful memory. God Bless, Scot Lady
|Patricia Beavers||Isiah Houston|
I am looking into the surname of Houston in Bastrop County. I came across Isiah and information about him. I already put in a couple of changes but I think that I can help link in his wife. on the 1940 census for Isiah Houston in Bastrop County his wife is listed as LULU, born circa 1901. The also have 2 boys listed one Ross Houston born 1925,and James Houston born 1931. There are 2 Lulu's in Fairview Cemetery that I believe there should only be one. Isiah number is 54719091

My name is J.C. Carter, son of Frank & Blanche (Johnson) Carter, daughter of Leonard son of Carl & Britta. These are my great-grandparents, do you know who's in the two unmarked graves beside them? Or how I can find out. The sexton is supposed to be in Elgin but I don't know how to contact them. Also I have a cousin, Joe Dan Johnson who is married to a Donnahoo(sp). Thanks
