I was born and raised in Jasper County, Indiana. My family has been here since the 1830's. My family research started as a girl scout project and has never stopped. I am familiar with most early families in the county and most cemeteries. I transplanted my husband here from Tennessee and we are raising our 3 boys, the 5th generation, on Stroup land (my mothers family).

I see we share our 7th / 8th great grandmother and would enjoy sharing family tree information sometime.

RE: Hayes
Looks like we share Francis Marion Hayes. I'm descended from his son Henry Howard Hayes, his daughter Edith Mae Hayes, and her son Willard Lee Beasley. Most of my research I've put on the tree at FamilySearch.org. The Hayes line is well sourced there, in case it would be beneficial to take a look, if you're not already familiar with that free website.

Thank you for the info on Susanna Hayes Smith and for the photo of Harry Hayes' tombtone! It always makes my day to see that a photo request has been fulfilled. :)

RE: Yeoman
I did want to add that the Coen that married a Yeoman that is my direct ancestor, was from Jasper, Indiana, and I think that is where our trees connect (need to do some more research of course!).

RE: Yeoman
Hi Mary! I am actually technically an immigrant (I moved the US at a young age). I was born overseas, my father was in the military, and met my mother while stationed in Korea... it is through my father's American side that I am related to a Yeoman. My father's family though has been on the West Cost for a few generations, in Southern Oregon and Northern California

RE: Mary Elizabeth Yeoman
Hi Mary! Thanks for getting back to me! I am still in the early stages of piecing together my ancestry, so I know very little, except that Mary Elizabeth Yeoman married Hugh E. Coen (and I do have a picture of her in her later years with her husband and children), so she may be related to some of the Yeomans in your line (I have not done enough research yet). Thank for your contributions on this site though! It's all been extremely helpful to me :)
