from Upper Tract, West Virginia|
Two years ago I had no idea where most of my ancestors were buried. I googled my g-g-grandfathers Isaac Alt and Alfred Kimble and found them on this site. I thought I might be able to link my family to them. That's how I got started. I had my sister go with me to show me where the Shreve and Kimble graveyards were in Smoke Hole. I must have caught some kind of bug in those graveyards that I can't get over. I'm adding the graveyards in the Upper Tract area. Most of them are not my relatives so if any one would like a transfer or link made just let me know. Feel free to copy any photos on my memorials for personal use. If added to another site, it would be nice to state where it was found. Let me know if you find any mistakes for I know they will be some.
I would to thank Jennie Hott for asking me to help record the updates for the cemeteries in the Upper Tract,Kline, Smoke Hole area for the new Pendleton County grave register that the historical Society has done. Also thanks to Denton Alt and Jack Hedrick for taking me and finding the cemeteries.
The following poem was written in 1906 by Walter Butler Palmer.
Your tombstone now, stands among the rest; Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out on polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care, It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist, You died before I was born.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse, Entirely not our own.
Dear Grandfather, the place you filled One hundred years ago.
Spreads out among the ones you left, Who would have loved you so.
I wonder how you lived and loved, I wander if you knew,
That someday I would find this spot, And come and visit you.

Good Morning Richard
Sitting here and the edits just came in. I hit accept right off the bat. I do that for folks I know are doing it right.
How's it going up in the mountains? I haven't made it back to your county for a few years, but hope to.
Take care, Bud.

John Isaac Graham #102224512 is the son of Isaac Graham # 65487778 and Lydia (Kimble) Graham #69538283. This is from his granddaughter - Lola Graham of Upper Tract, Wv, and also what I find from my research. John Isaac Graham married Amelia Puffenbarger - their son - William Perry Graham is father of Lola Graham of Upper Tract,WV. Great lady! You have his parents as Isaac Graham & Mahala Shreves. If you know something different, please let me know. Isaac Graham & Barbara Coil/Kile Graham are my GG Grand parents.

I am. Me -> Edward William -> Ernest Webster -> Elmer Webster -> Daniel Moses -> Arnold K -> James -> Adam -> John -> Johann. Elmer moved to Hagerstown, MD from WV sometime between 1910 and 1920. I have rock solid links up to Daniel and the rest are pretty solid after him, but not absolute. There are a LOT of Kimbles - I had no idea! I never met my father or his family (until recently, when I met one of my brothers!), which was the motivating factor in starting my research.
Long answer to a short question, eh?

|Theresa Shifflett||RE: misspelled name|
Thanks for correcting the misspelled word. I was just surfing the web when I ran across the web site. Thanks for all the information on my grand parents. You can keep their records. I wouldn't be able to keep up on this. Thanks again for doing a great service!
