Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love history, genealogy and cemetery hunting.
The tree in the photo is a Burr Oak called the Half-Way Tree that was paced off by Native American runners as the half way point between the Mississippi and Lake Michigan. My ancestor William Rice lived very near this tree and died in 1857.

In about 1861 some Native Americans spoke with a local farmer and told him to never cut down this tree because it marked the midpoint for their journey. So they never did.

Mary Lucas edit
You asked me to link my memorial of
Mary Lucas to her mother Paulina D. Leach.
Paulina is "Burial Unknnown." Sorry but
I will not link any of my memorials to
"Burial Unknown." I do not add "Burial Unknown"
memorials to this site, and I will not support

RE: Diman memorials
I don't think transferring memorials from
one cemetery to another would cause a
problem with the links. I did check out
the memorial in question #130658827, I
did not see any problems. Do you think there
is a problem with some of the other memorials?
The only way for me to be 100 percent certain
is to know where the problem is and then do
the research over again. But as I had mentioned
transferring memorials from one cemetery to another
should not cause a problem with the links. The
only problem that I think it could cause is
duplicate memorials.
If you feel there is a problem, please let me
Take Care,

RE: Charlotte Butler
You're welcome. I'll try to find out what day in November they open and try to get back there to get the photos you need.

RE: Hugh Pickford
Ok, I know Hardingley it's about a mile from where I live! If you have a look at http://maps.nls/view/102345094 it will open with the ordnance survey1854 map of the area. Look for Shepley and just to the east of the Y is Hardenley (Hardingley). There is also Hardingley Farm House, called Ox Ings on the map, just to the east of Hardenley. A picture of Hardingley Farm House, which is probably the, location, is archived on Hope that makes sense
Looking at the old map there's Shelley Far Bank Chapel and Providence Chapel in Shepley so I'll have a look at both.
Most of the older houses round here are stone built with stone roofs. If you've ever seen "Last of the Summer Wine" on PBS it's all filmed in this area so that should give you an idea of the character of the area.

RE: Hugh Pickford
I'm just sorry I couldn't find them for you.
When I get a chance I'll have a look in Kirkburton churchyard and also In the one at Shelley too. I've had a quick look for any other identifiable cemeteries in the area and can't see any but I'll ask around and see if anyone has any ideas.
It may take me a few weeks before I get to look around but I'll let you know the results of any search.

RE: Hiram Resseguie
Thank you for all your assistance! If you had not sent me a picture of that headstone, I would still be wondering about Hiram. The story of the divorce had not been something the family talked about but one that my husband uncovered on a research trip to the SLC Family History Library. In the Resseguie book, it gave erroneous information about Hiram moving to South Dakota so it has been quite a search over the years. I am indebted.
