Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching the histories of these families: Bankes, Cashner, Farnsworth, Fetterman, Gottshall, Houck, Levan, Miller, Rhone and Singley. In my quest to find more information, I have visited cemeteries and taken photos, etc. I joined Find A Grave so I can add Memorials which may be helpful for other researchers in the future. I enjoy this site and I hope that people will benefit from my postings.

I live in Columbia County, PA. I'm willing to help anyone who needs info from my part of PA. If you have more info for one of my posts, please let me know and I will be glad to add the info to the Memorial.

Please feel free to copy and use my photos in a positive manner with respect for the family.

If I have posted a memorial that is in your family and not in my research, ask, and I will be happy to turn it's management over to you.

Anyone wishing to use the photos, in their genealogy, that I have posted on this website are free to use them.

Anyone wishing to have memorials that I have added removed from find a grave need only send a request. I put the memorial pages here so that family members in search of ancestors can find them, not to offend anyone.

Sharing this lovely poem:

" Dear Ancestor,
Your gravestone stands among the rest;
Neglected & alone
The name & date are chiseled out
On polished, marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I existed
You died & I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone
Our Blood contracts & beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived & loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you ".

Phillip W. Knouse Memorial #168783291
Hello Elaine,

I am writing to you about my Dad, Phillip Knouse, who recently passed.

I was born & raised in Pennsylvania but moved to Arizona in 1985.

My Dad was a WWII veteran and, a I understand it, his marker with veteran designation will be on his final resting place in about 1 month.

Not knowing the scope of your volunteer work with updating information, I was wondering if you had any ideas on how I could get an updated photo posted once the marker is placed.

With me being across the country, obviously it is not possible for me to accomplish this task.

Any ideas or suggestions you have are appreciated.

You can contact me here or at my personal email address:

Warm regards,

RE: Your Burials at

I am just attempting to ascertain if the cemetery was just renamed incorrectly or accidentally merged with another.

I don't require any transfers but thank-you for the offer. I'll dust off my copy of the transcriptions for St. John's and verify a couple of your memorials and that should take care of the bulk of the ,memorials. There are just 30 or so others that I beleive will need to be moved and I've contacted the member who is responsible for those.

Guy Henry Temple
Hello Elaine: In researching my family genealogy I have discovered duplicate Memorials for Guy. I am a relative of Guy, and would like you to transfer his Memorial to his daughter Heather Temple "Fringe62" FindAGrave member #48781461, if you would please. Thank you for your kindness in posting this Memorial for our great "Guy."

I would appreciate if you would consider letting me manage #114857756 Edith Letterman and #114857783 James P. Letterman's memorials. They are my great aunt and uncle. Trying to connect all my Letterman's. I appreciate all you do on Find A Grave. Thank you.
