We both enjoy the hobby of genealogy, and value the information that can often be gleaned from grave markers. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO MAKE USE OF ANY PHOTOS WE'VE POSTED TO ENHANCE YOUR FAMILY TREE. Once we're retired (in a few more years), we plan to become more active as photo volunteers to be able to contribute more.

FYI: We are working towards photographing all of the approximately 2900 grave markers at the Veteran's Cemetery in Esquimalt - Sections AA, BB, CC, D, E, F & OFFICE have been completed - Section DD is in progress. The rest to follow. If you'd like a photo not yet uploaded (or a retake on any existing photo), please post a photo request, and we will get it at the first opportunity.

RE: William Matthews photo request
Hi Betty and Dan
I haven't been able to find very much info on him at all. I am curious about his cause of death and his movements across state and country borders as he started out in England and went to America and Canada via Australia but I have not been able to find any of those records after Australia. I assume he arrived in America around 1886/87 but that's only going by where and when his children were born. Any info you can send along with the photos would be greatly appreciated.
His widow Mary Ellen Matthews nee Rogers remarried and according to family folklore, also traveled back and forth between Australia and America before finally settling in America. Her three sons (one was my great grandfather) returned to Australia at some stage so I don't know whether this was before or after their fathers death and she was just visiting. There is a family story that she was nasty to her daughter-in-law (my great grandmother).
Any info you have on him would be greatly appreciated as he is a bit of a mystery to us.
Cheers
Megan

Florena Bulley
Thank you very much for your help & time, Florence Louise Hollway / Bulley was my grand aunt. Its typical for my family leaving no mark other than a slight paper trail! She had 2 children - Florence Louise Bulley 1897 1940
&
Arthur Edward Bulley 1901 1949.

Many thanks to you both for the photo of Maj Thomas Alexander Cochrane's grave. Without this photo I would not have been able to research the last 30 years of his life. I have uploaded two photos one taken in WW1 and the other WW2. It may interest you to know what he looked like.

Once again, many thanks. Sheila

Robert Hanna
Dear Dan and Betty, Thank you very much for the information you provided me of the grave of my great grandfather Robert Hanna. I also especially appreciated the article of his death from the newspaper and obituary. I was in Canada when I received the information, unfortunately, my iPad would not let me respond to the link to write back to you.

While in Canada though, I was able to share the information with my Aunt, which was her grand father. She only had heard he had died by being kicked in the head, as I was told also. She would like to put a grave stone on the empty grave site. So, I told her I would look into that for her.

I would like to find more of Robert Hanna's relatives in Ireland, so I am hot on the trail.

Thank you again, Shelly Peacock

Frank and Anna Feil pages
I just completed a very extensive Feil family tree with over 500 names over 150 years. Some of the information I was able to find on this findagrave site, and noticed you had posted some pictures of my great-grandparents, Frank and Anna Feil, which I do not have. Where were you able to obtain them, and are you possibly a relative? Please respond
