|Bruce Miller||RE: Photo|
Do you have a photo of Elijah Kellogg's headstone instead of just the main cemetery photo?
|Linda Thompson||RE: Joanna Hannah Hempstead Allen|
I am not related but interested as volunteer researcher for Greenwood Cemetery and more so as volunteer for the Oaks House Museum, Jackson, Miss., home of the Boyd family into which Mary Eliza Allen married (Newton Halsey Boyd).
|Jill Chapman||Samuel and Elizabeth Churchill|
Hi Jill, I was looking for the burial place of Samuel and Elizabeth Churchill. Thank you for the information. I am related throught their daughter, Olive, who married Asa Leonard. They are buried at Brown Settlement Cemetery in Berkshire, Tioga Co. NY. Wonder if Elizabeth was buried there also??? Both Samuel and his son in law, Asa, were in the Revolution. Thank you. Jill Chapman
Thank you for all of this info. I look forward to digesting it. I'd come across John Etherton and suspected he was Stephen's Father, but hadn't had the time to approach the name "adjustment" and continue from there. I wonder why there were a few tweaks in the names, especially from Etherton to Edenton after they were already settled in VA. A friend of mine is a professional genealogist, so I may reach out to her for ideas for the change.
As for the offer of a guide- that is very kind of you, and I'd welcome it when it's very, very cold ha! As someone who has Lyme disease, I'm also sensitive to the tick population, even in the winter, and would probably be suited up in a beekeeper's suit just to walk in the area (kidding.... sort of....)
I'll send you an email in the next few days with my email address so it's not made public. :-)

Thank you for the reply. I've lived in Maryland just outside DC for 25 yrs. Everyone on my Mom's side is from Spotsylvania Co. I've been there many times over the years but haven't done any research or leg work. Someone in the family has, but I don't know who. I'm just starting to do some of my own research, which is how I came across your info. My Mom passed away in 1986 and was my last source of info, so it's on me to do my own research.
Here's how I'm related to James P. Edenton (my Mom's side):
My Mother- Ruby Williams Gay (Randolph)
My Grandmother- Ruby Virginia Edenton (Gay) (remarried in 1968 or 69 and became McAuliffe)
My Great Grandfather - Ellis Edward Edenton
My Great Grandmother - Ruby Jackson Biscoe (Edenton) (Ellis's 2nd wife after 1st wife, Martha Hailey, died)
My Great Great Grandfather- James Philip Vass Edenton (note that my family's written notes spell it "Phillip" and also include the middle name Vass after his Mother)
I know that James' father was Stephen Edenton. That's as far as I can go so far.

I'm writing regarding Find A Grave Memorial# 143210827 for James P. Edenton. You list the grave as being in the Edenton Family Cemetery in Spotsylvania Co. VA. He was my great, great, Grandfather on my Mother's side. Can you tell me where this cemetery is located in the County?

I'm writing in regard to the photo (portrait) posted on William Adam Warnock's profile (Memorial # 13019506) ... Do you own this pic and/or do you remember its source?
I'm seeking permission to use it on his profile at WikiTree.
Thank you much for your time and all you do here.

Thanks for making the changes.
Am very glad to meet you! Scott's an old friend and colleague (meaning the friendship is old, not Scott).
I'll have to talk to him about the Emleys. Elizabeth Sexton (1767-1806), wife of William I. Emley Sr. (1767-1853), is a second cousin of mine through her mother's family, the Mounts.
I looked up the death certificate of William I. Emley (1824-1889). It gives his the parents as Joseph and Martha. Am not sure how he connects to the older William I. Maybe you will know...
All the best to you.

After a week of frustration, I finally was able to get the help I needed from the Find A Grave forums. It appears that the "Photos" app on the new iOS Yosemite (10.10.4), and the updated iOS found on the iPhone 6, is not fully compatible with Find A Grave. I had to move my pictures back into iPhoto (the old app) to make the markers consistently upload correctly.
I was happy to help!
