RE: James Wilson / Obie Taylor
Hi Shelley -

Sorry it has been a while since I last wrote you. I normally don't login to find-a-grave much. Here is some more information regarding Obie Taylor:

I have seen her name spelled as Obie and Obbie. I don't have any docs that confirm her birth date or death yet, but I have a few that give her approximate birth:
1900 census - Moreland, Pope, Arkansas, USA
1910 census - Illinois, Pope, Arkansas, USA
1920 census - Liberty, Pope, Arkansas, USA
and a copy of her marriage license from Dover, Pope, Arkansas, USA

Her parents were James T Taylor & Lucy Ann Scarbrough. James was born in either 1856 or 1857 (no birth or death cert yet). For him I have the following docs:
24 Sep 1879 (hand written) marriage license - Valley, Pope, Arkansas, USA - he married Josephine F Wilson (I don't have much info on her)
- their children included Giford D, Ben F and Homer E.
1880 census - Valley, Pope, Arkansas, USA
08 Nov 1891 marriage license - Russellville, Pope, Arkansas, USA - Lucy Scarbrough
1900 census - Moreland, Pope, Arkansas, USA
1910 census - Illinois, Pope, Arkansas, USA
1920 census - Liberty, Pope, Arkansas, USA
Addionally, for Lucy Scarbrough I have:
1930 census - Liberty, Pope, Arkansas, USA

Their children included:
Peral, Obie, Fay, James R, and Edna A (all Taylor).

Lucy's parents were:
Robert Parker Scarbrough (b: Mar 1846, d: after 1920) & Elizebeth P Ross (b: 20 Mar 1842 in TN, d: before 1920).
Their children included: Mary M, James Benjamin, Lucy Ann, Nancy E, Joseph J and John Andrew (all Scarbrough)
I have the following records for Robert Parker Scarbrough:
1880 census - Haywood, Clay, Arkansas, USA
1900 census - Dover, Pope, Arkansas, USA
1909 marriage to Sarah H Wade
1910 census - Dover, Pope, Arkansas, USA
1920 census - Liberty, Pope, Arkansas, USA

I try to keep my research documented as much as possible with actual records. As I have found I sometimes need to go back to the source to see if things were entered correctly. Also, online there are may mistakes made that can have ripple effects in researching genealogy (where you head down a wrong path, or use wrong information).

Anything you can help me with is greatly appreciated. If you want any copies of actual records, let me know, but I suspect you will be able to get many of them with your ancestry account (I have not been willing to pay the price for it yet).

You can always reach me by email at: genealogy @ holdenfamily.com (you need to remove the spaces)

~Robert

RE: James Wilson / Obie Taylor
Hi Shelley -

In another posting here on Find A Grave, you posted information about Obie (Taylor) Wilson. I have her in my family tree. She is the daughter of James Taylor and Lucy Scarbrough (no extra O in there). I have more information about this line and would love to share.

Just curious ... you grow up in the SLO area (your pictures are from outside Paso). I grew up in SLO. :-)

Thank you,

Robert Holden

RE: James Wilson
I found out Obie could be a nick name for Obedience (female). Could give us something to look for.

RE: James Wilson
I have not found Obie. I believe "Obie" is a nick name, but for what? A lot of the time, when a man died, his single brother would marry her so the kids would be taken care of.
