Bio and Links
I am addicted to genealogy and spend most everyday doing something to expand on my trees.
I live in Alberta Canada but have deep American roots in Missouri, South Carolina, Virginia, Iowa and the San Joaquin Valley in California.
I winter in Phoenix for part of the year. My father is Canadian my mother is American and was a landed immigrant in Canada.
I especially enjoy photographing cemeteries. I am very grateful for the many volunteer hours others have put in so I can have pictures of the headstones of my ancestors. As a way of paying it forward I have contributed to the Canadagenweb cemetery project with my husband.
I believe that family has the right to look after the Find A Grave files on their family members -family may not have had the time to create the file before a stranger does and that is very unfortunate. I only had to duplicate one file because the person who had nothing to do with our family wouldn't give it up and had lots of errors on the file-talk about control!! I have lots to do just maintaining my own family trees and FAG let alone creating a bunch of files on people that have no connection to me whatsoever. If I request a transfer on one of my family members I would hope it would be graciously upheld and I will do the same.

Hello:
I don't know if I am or not. My grandfather and his sister were given to a home when they were younger after their mother died.

RE: Peter Jensen in Westlock Cemetery
Hi Vickie,

Although Gloria and I worked together on documenting the Westlock Cemetery, and I have relatives in the Westlock area, I'm afraid I won't be of much help in your quest for the Jensen family connections.

First question however - Are Edward Jensen (b. 1887) and Elizabeth Jensen (b. 1892) the parents of E. Clarke Jensen (b. 1917)?? I would suspect they are, all being buried in the same cemetery.

I could only hazard a guess that maybe Edward Jensen (1887~1968) interred in the Poynter Cemetery might be a brother to Peter Jensen (1885~1962) interred in the Westlock Cemetery, which would then make E. Clarke a nephew of Peter's. But it's only speculation from this end.

You could try applying for Peter's death registration (since his death was over 50 years ago, and available for viewing), and see if there's any clue to his parentage. Cost is around $50 through any registry - maybe a bit cheaper if you are an AMA member. Hope I've helped somewhat! ~LRM~

RE: Peter Jensen.
No Vicki, I am not related and do not know anything more than what was on the stone. I have family in that cemetery and so we photographed a fairly large section of the cemetery and posted to Find A Grave.
Open the first listing for Westlock Cemetery and you will see it was posted by Linda R. Morgan. Try sending her a message - she is much more knowledgable about that cemetery and the area and may be able to help you.

RE: McIvors and Potters
That's great. I spent the weekend at Scott's 80 birthday. Had a nice talk with Lynne. They are both collecting the McIvor documents and efemera together. I am going to get together with Scott and scan all the documents they have. Including Adam Scott's old mercantile ledger and an old McIvor bible. I will let you know when I scan them. I will message more on Ancestry later this week.

Don't remember responding to you. I do not know, but I would guess she is, but it's not on Find A Grave and neither is her husband.

RE: Kenneth McIvor
Nice to connect with you Vicki. I have seen many of you McIvor photos on Ancestry. We do have a distant connection. I have sent a message via email.

RE: Susan McSwain
Merced District has lost one body in all the years I have worked with them, and very might have lost another. No one has perfect records. That was my next question - how did you hear she was buried there? If you find ANY proof of being in Odd Fellows (Merced District Cemetery) I would re-add her. It would truly be nice to have her listed. Don't give up!!

I am calling the Merced Cemeteries to find Susan, don't delete her, just leave her as an unknown burial for the moment.

Pindar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pindar

I have seen the name used in other families.

I do not think it is an ancestors maiden name.

Just a classical name.
