Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired Huntsville Alabama Police Officer. I have been a student of local history for many years. My main interests lie in Alabama Civil War Units. One of the saddest things about the Civil War was that so many young men left home and were never heard from again. Their families never knew how or where they died or where they were buried. Thanks to the work of many Findagrave contributors, I have reunited many of these brave men,if only in a virtual cemetery. These cemeteries are a constant work in progress. I welcome any and all info on any of my memorials and am always happy to transfer your kin folk. If you visit the memorial of any of these brave men, please honor them in any way you see fit. Whether or not you believe their cause was just, does not matter. What matters is that men from both sides fought and died protecting the only way of life they had ever known. "Alas! In how many Southern homes aching hearts waited through weary months for news of loved ones that never came until the suspense was replaced by the real certainty that the absent one had helped to swell the unknown dead of the Wheatfield, the Peach Orchard, or the Devil's Den of a Northern land."--J. Howard Wert. Sometimes I come home from work with a sore back or tired feet or maybe even a headache. Then I think of a 16 year old boy lying wounded in a dark field. He's hundreds of miles from home. He's thirsty, hungry and cold. He's crying for his Mama. Or I think of Robert and Sarah Milling, of Dallas County, who lost their five sons to the Confederate cause in the 20th Alabama Infantry. Suddenly, I don't feel so bad afterall. ********* I'm having some problems with my E-Mail and can't reply or send anything out. Please send me a public message through Findagrave if possible so I can respond back in a timely manner.*********

RE: Slater
I'm not really sure what to tell you. I think I'd name the memorial J. M., to match the stone, but then include everything else you found in the bio section. Maybe a relative will come along and clear it up.

Henry R. McCoy #84992134

Just read your profile about having problems with email so I will leave a message here although I did send you one through the edit tab.
The government issue grave marker for Henry R. McCoy in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Tallapoosa County, AL was placed there in error. Major McCoy is buried in Mount Hickory Cemetery, Chambers County, AL with a well marked box tomb and obelisk over his grave. Would you please make a note of this on the memorial page you created for him. The link to his memorial page in Mount Hickory Cemetery
is:

Thanks!

George W. Davis
I believe this George W. Davis is my great grand uncle who died in the Civil War. Family records indicate he died Oct. 1862 at age 19. The memorial indicates he was from Claysville Alabama, which is an unincorporated area of Marshall County Alabama. George's brother, my great grandfather, John J.W.W. Davis was living in Marshall County in 1880. Don't know for sure this is our George W. Davis, but would like to find some way to prove this. Could you help me find this connection to my family?

Thanks so much for taking care of the edits for Dana Parker. We both went to AMA, but I graduated a few years before him. Thanks again, Steve Curlee

Owen H. K? Carden
Dear Mr. Hutch,
I want to thank you for adding the information of my GGGrandfather, Owen H.R, or K. Carden! I have visted his grave at Oakland Cemetery, and it has his name on the tombstone as Gorden, and I also bought a book, and it has his last name listed as "Corden." It meant the world to me to pay my respects to him, and again, I thank you for posting this information about him!

Thank you,

Rebecca Carden
