*** About Sharing***|
My gravestone photos are for sharing! Please use them freely for your personal family research projects. However, if you add them to your online tree, please DO include a photo credit "Photo by Find A Grave volunteer Debi C." Proper photo credit further encourages the volunteerism which makes this awesome resource possible.
*** About Transfers ***
I generally follow the FG "four-generation DIRECT line" guideline for transferring memorials. So, if you'd like me to transfer to you, please share your line of descent when submitting your request. If you are NOT a direct descendant... well... let's chat and figure things out. I am always happy to update memorials under my care when I can verify the new information.
I still consider myself a Rhode Islander - where I grew up, lived, worked, and played for some 50 odd years - but as of July 2012, now call Gray Maine "home".
My own genealogy work began when my Dad died just two months before seeing the new millennium and hasn't stopped since. I continue to be engrossed in the study of family history and find cemeteries simply fascinating! Helping others realize their family history goals is just plain FUN, so I sometimes conduct limited research projects - just for fun! - on a volunteer basis.

|Darz||RE: Nellie Knight Farnum|
Hi, Yes Nellie's marriage certificate shows her father as Augustus Knight and mother Elizabeth Hull. I could not match her to any Augustus Knight. Her death certificate states that her father is Stephen Knight and mom's maiden name is Hall. 1880 census record shows her name as Ellie and shows her sister as her Dad. Stephen is listed before record. Does this help?

It is possible the names are on stones in both cem. Find a grave lets you add a memorial in both and will mark one a cenotaph.
|David Shannon||RE: Charles Cobb/Louisa Cobb DOB|
The exact date for Louisa Cobb's birth comes from 10 Ancestry Family Trees. Of course, all 10 could be wrong, if they all came from the same faulty source. However, the 1813 date is consistent with her ages given in the 1840,1850, 1860, and 1870 Censuses. So I think we could at least agree upon that. The fact that the date given in the Family Trees is also 1613, makes it more credible, I would say. The most likely mistake, if there is one, would be that it is the baptism date, but there are no sources available for that, that I know of. In the absence of conflicting data, why not go with it. It can always be changed down the road, if something else surfaced. That is extra work, I understand, but not much work and not all that likely.
As for Charles, it is likely the same 10 Family Trees that agree on the date, 9 of the the exact same one, and the 10th simply saying 1820. The gravestone says that he was 17 at the time of death. If his birth was in February 1820 and he died in January 1837, he would not have quite reached his 17th birthday. But it is so close, they may have rounded up, since they did not show both years and months. Just speculation, of course, but I think rational. And again, in the absence of anything more precise, it works for me. If not for you, then that is your choice.
My connection is that Charles' and Louisa's brother George Webster Cobb is my g2-grandfather. But I don't have any family documents showing dates for any of the siblings.
Thanks for all your work on Find A Grave. It is really helpful to folks like me.
|Jackie Cain||RE: Henson Obituaries|
Mogenweb has a clickable link of the map of Missouri broken down by counties. St Francois County has the obit link. Washington County has a cemetery link that is AMAZING! USGENWEB.COM is broken down by states...not every state is a wealth of information, but it's worth a look! Again, glad I can help! Happy Hunting! !
|aimme||RE: Asa Dresser Hodgkin|
Hi there, I got Asa's birthday from the US social security death index.
Name: Asa Hodgkin
BORN: 9 Nov 1879
Died: Nov 1962
State (Year) SSN issued: Maine (Before 1951)
I'm not sure about the discrepancy. He is a distant relative of mine. How are you related? He is buried in the same cemetery as many of my close relatives.

|Betty Jeffery||RE: COMPTON transfers|
Thank you so much, Debi. They will be in good hands.
|Betty Jeffery||RE: COMPTON transfers|
Thanks for the quick reply, Debi. I thought I was following the Guidelines -- sorry if I wasn't. I have a lot of additional information to add to the Compton records, and some corrections. I am the co-author of The Jeffery Family of the Isle of Wight and Prince Edward Island (Alberton, PE: Therles Press, 1998), and one of the mot prolific descendant lines in that book is the Compton one. I never add information unless I have verified it, ideally in a primary source, but sometimes secondary and tertiary ones.
I would be happy to learn that you are a Compton descendant. I have continued to add to my database, and perhaps you are already there.

Thanks for all your work. Are you related to the Compton family? If not, would you please consider transferring the following records? They are descended from my great great grandfather's sister, and I have additional information to share.
