I was born in Alva, OK. Both parents were Okies; Dad from Freedom & Mom (Corbin) from Beaver. |
I have some free time on my hand and enjoy lending a hand, so here I am.
I appreciate anything that adds to a memorial, so hit the edit tab and I'll get on it.
God Bless America!
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried,
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds,
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground;
Was it a babe, child, young or old,
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before.
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.
- Thelma Greene Reagan
The sorrow for the dead is the only sorrow from which we refuse to be divorced. Every other wound we seek to heal, every other affliction to forget; but this wound we consider it a duty to keep open: this affliction we cherish and brood over in solitude.
- Washington Irvine
The song is ended, but the melody lingers on.
- Irving Berlin
What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.

Thanks so much for adding Ada's grave marker photo. She is part of my Druin clan and I am happy to have her memorial completed in this way.

Just checking through the memorials for the Freedom Cemetery (checking spelling and dates of the memorials I have added), I find several photos last names beginning with J, K and L that do not have photos that you have added. Just your name appears. Seems strange that they are not there. Didn't check any further, but those from A to H are added. Might want to check it or maybe just my computer or Find a grave today.
