I'm interested in genealogy and history. |
I've spent a good bit of time in cemeteries of late taking photos. It seems a good idea to share those with others by posting them to Find A Grave.
Hopefully, others will appreciate the opportunity to find photos of family markers when it is not practical for them to actually visit the cemetery.
You're welcome to use the photo;credit would be appreciated.
If I can help with a photo of a tombstone in Western Jefferson County, I'll be glad to try.

|James Hale||Reuben Y. Robertson's gravestone|
I was looking at your photo and transcription of Reuben Y. Robertson's grave (43591014). I googled one of the phrases and came up with the song "Weep not for me." I've altered it a little to fit what's on the stone:
"Weep not for me."
Why should I lament the
Why should I indulge in such
tears or gloom?
[Calmly on the Lord relying,
He can greet the op'ning tomb.
What if death, with icy fingers,
All the fount of life congeals?
'Tis not there thy brother lingers,
'Tis not death his spirit feels.
Tho' for him thy soul is mourning,
Tho' with grief thy heart is riv'n;
While his flesh to dust is turning,
All his soul is fill'd with heav''n.
Scenes seraphic, high and glorious,
Now forbid his longer stay;
See him rise o'er death victorious,
Angels beckon him away.]
Hark! the golden harps are ringing,
Sounds celestial fill his ear;
Millions now in heaven singing,
Greet his joyful entrance there.
It's kind of beautiful I think. My father died recently - I found it comforting to come across this. Thank you.
And the last part - Rev. 14:13
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord.

You took a photo for James Ira Crumly - unfortunately, his spouse's name is covered by a huge bush - any idea who she is? Can't find it anywhere!

Thanks for the picture of the headstone for Betty Lou Tiller, and thanks as well for including the entire headstone so we can see the rest of the family. I also appreciate that you updated the memorial death info for her son Jeff.

Thank you for the information. I will try to find info on Margaret's parents.
As for DAR, I have four lines that are eligible so far. I haven't gotten around to filling out the paperwork yet or picking the easiest line. I know, it is a first world problem.

|Danielle||RE: Regarding Abihu Batson|
you don't seem to have your email listed.
Also, regarding Sarah Jane being the daughter of Margaret Aultman, I am not sure this makes sense because Abihu Brack Batson was married before the year 1879 to Mary C Bagwell, yes?
