I'm a lover of cemeteries, mysteries, and family history. I feel a keen sense of time and mortality (not as morbid as it sounds), and feel it's important to catalogue headstones/cemeteries and record inscriptions before it's too late. |
I'm a born archivist, and so I find myself digging for information, whether the memorial is "mine" or not. It's not for glory or to "do better," but rather to contribute and help folks be remembered.
A little note on photos: I will give up a photo slot if there's no room and a better photo comes along. I will not delete a photo just because you don't like it.
A note about the "purpose" of Find A Grave: I have recently experienced certain folks proclaiming what Find A Grave is "for." These people object to bios that paint a picture of the person passed, insisting that Find A Grave is supposed to be a registry of graves (which it is, but that's not all it is). These same people don't hesitate to fill a bio with minutiae about Confederate service or distant relationship to King Charles II. Guess what I'm trying to say is this--we all have our own idea of what's "important." I won't whine about yours, you don't whine about mine.
Also, I've come across a rather unpleasant practice some folks engage in: DELETING memorials after accepting edits. Dodging edits a crappy, immature thing to do. If you feel the need, this probably isn't the site for you.
And one last (I hope) thing? Please do not link any BU memorials to my memorials. I will report the BUs to Find a Grave. If you create a BU knowing you'll not be able to find that grave within the 30 day limit, then you're NOT recording the final disposition. You are, in fact, violating the terms of the site. Don't link those to my memorials.
DO NOT CHALK/SHAVING CREAM/POWDER OR OTHERWISE VANDALIZE STONES TO GET PICTURES. IF YOU POST ONE OF THESE TO A MEMORIAL I CREATE, I WILL REPORT YOU TO FIND A GRAVE.

Thank you for the wonderful photos for the 2 Boteler graves at Rock Creek. I have made the update to the memorial for Theophilus. This family is not related to me. I was entering info for PG Co. family cemeteries and entered both parents. It always bothers me when a family cemetery is lost to development! Then........as usual, I was curious and did research for the family in hopes of helping a family member.
Your help is appreciated!

I looked through my notes on the family and didn't find anyone with those initials, whose interment site is not known. He/she could be a Cobey relative - I don't have much information on them. Sorry - wish I could have been helpful. Thanks for the great stone shots!
