I am an avid genealogist and have been researching my family and my husband's family for 35+ years. We have traveled quite a bit to find ways around my "brick walls" and have been to lots of cemeteries and taken lots of pictures. I'm glad to have a chance to share some of this information on Find A Grave. My husband, Jim, deserves credit for all of the pictures as he patiently visits cemetery after cemetery with me.|
PLEASE if you find an error or have additional information on any of the people I have posted, email me. I will be glad to make additions and corrections so that the information is as accurate as possible.
I am doing Find A Grave work to honor our ancestors and, hopefully, to help others find information on their own ancestors. The pictures that we have taken may be used by families and descendants. However, pictures taken for 19th and 20th Indiana soldiers have been taken for the 19th Indiana web site of Phil Harris and may NOT be posted on other web sites without my permission.
Thanks to all of you who have posted information and photos on Find A Grave. This is a great way to preserve information, and in doing so, preserve our past.
I found this letter in the bio of Bobby Jett and had to add it to my bio as well. Genealogists do indeed feel this connection.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Thanks for the correction on Iona Burns. I have it fixed now.
Her husband is Forest Eugene ( Gene ) Burns.

I hesitate to delete this memorial for the following reasons:
1) A photo was submitted of his gravestone in this cemetery
2) The birth date you gave is ten years different
3) This could be an uncle (??)
Please request a photo of gravestone and see what happens. You just may have discovered a relative!

Thank you so much for trying to find her grave for me. I truly appreciate all that you do.

Thanks for asking. Your solution for the duplication seems to be the most reasonable way to handle it. I have uploaded a photo of the "temporary" marker I used to create the original memorial, to the memorial you created, and have deleted the original memorial.

We'll hope that the information on the family trees is correct about the father's death. I've adjusted the page with information to reflect the discrepancy about the dates while also drawing attention to the incorrect information of the date and name spelling on the stone.
Hopefully this works for trying to get the most accurate information on the page about him.

Thank you for the information you sent on William Bilyew. I've corrected his name and made a notation in the bio that the stone had it misspelled. I did some census research and his birth year was reported as 1852 on the 1910 census when living in Ft. Scott, KS. with wife Martha and then reported again in 1920 Census as 1852 when living in Arkansas with wife Gladys.
A notation was made at the top of the page regarding that.
