Transfers: I will transfer ownership to direct descendants within four generations - the same as Find A Grave guidelines. Otherwise, I'm happy to add to memorials and make links, just click on the "Edit" tab on the top right of the memorial, then click on "Suggest a correction or provide additional information". Be sure to give me the other person's ID number when requesting links.|
One line of my ancestors (CROSE) lived in Tippecanoe Co., IN in the 1820s. Some of their cousins lived in the next county to the south, Boone, and some south of that in Hendricks Co. I live in northern Hendricks Co., and am taking photos mostly in Boone and Hendricks, including the older, more difficult to read stones. Hopefully, these photographs will be around longer than the headstones. Many are on the verge of not being readable - even with the sun at a good angle and using tricks to bring out the text.
Since I've been doing genealogy research for a number of years, I can see a real benefit in seeing headstones, rather than relying on a transcription. To me, the important thing is to be able to read the inscription (names & dates, child of ...), but not really the verse below it. It's also important to know who is buried next to who. I'll mention that if I notice a connection.
Cemeteries that are completed - meaning that I photographed everything and have posted all that was readable. Other transcriptions may have more names.
Beck - Bethel (Boone Co.) - Bethel (52nd St Indy) - Browns Wonder - Jones -
Lowry -Macedonia - Mintonye - Mt Union -
Mt. Zion - North Branch - Oak Hill (Sect 1-30, 34N & 34S) - Pleasant Hill (Indy) -
Pleasant View (Dover) - Poplar Grove - Prebster - Old Union Church - Richland - Robison - St. Malachy West - Salem -
Sparks - Taylor - Trotter (I can only find 33 of the 64 markers) - Weaver - Zionsville
I currently use a 10M Canon Powershot camera which will take pictures at 3648 x 2736 pixels. Normally I reset the resolution to 2272 x 1704 and then on the computer, especially with worn headstones, I turn up the contrast 20-30%, and lower the brightness 5-10% and keep the compression at 98 to 99%. When I started posting for Find a Grave the file size limit was 250 KB, then 350, 500, 750, 2000 3000 and now 8000 KB. I use photo editing software that I downloaded for free - it's much better than what Canon or Olympus gives you with their camera. With Photoscape I know the file size before I save the file.

Thank you for sending the bio of George Vinnedge.
I have added it to his memorial with credit given to you as the provider.
I appreciate all you do on Find A Grave.

Della Sue Williams Dunn, who I just learned was buried next to my grandparents, Dan and Ethel Mae Williams, is my aunt. I only recently learned her last name at the time she passed away. You will notice that I have added her sister, Margie Williams Gahn, a special aunt, who passed away last week. I would sincerely appreciate it if you would transfer her memorial to me. |Leslie Galliher Gawne||RE: Regarding Parker Truitt|
Sorry I left another public message, I didn't notice the handy reply button!
But I have in fact FOUR Parker Truitts in my tree, none of whom are Anderson's son, OR the one you mention, who died in 2006! :)
Can you send me the genealogy on your Parker Truitt, or can you look at my tree on ancestry and see if you can tell where he fits in?
(PS, there is also a Parker Moore, son of Lewis Moore and Patience Truitt. There is a Parker Moore cemetery in Muncie, Indiana, and a Truitt cemetery not far away.)

Gosh, yes, I did mean Anderson! The only Anderson Truitt I have in my tree is one who died at one year old. So to find yet another Parker Truitt who isn't even linked to the ones I already have is confusing. But Anderson must be connected somehow (although there are more than one Truitt clans in the USA, apparently), I was just hoping you knew more.
If you look on Ancestry for Truitts and find a tree called "Robert Boyce Galliher (etc) tree" that is mine, there's a boat load of Truitts in there. Some of whom married sisters, and at least one married a first cousin, so it gets tangled. Other folks on F.A.G. have tried to help sort it out, if we can trust their accuracy!

|FamleLady||RE: Doty Family of Stronghurst|
Marc, I have been researching the Edward Doty family and am truly confused. Ancestry has him married to Anna E in one spot and Inez Mason Doty (1379371320) in another place, but the same children are listed under both mothers. I can not find the grave site of either Anna E nor Edward. Thanks to you I did find Inez. I have found Claude J, Edward Clifton, Harry Lee and Hazel Doty Steffey. Can you help?

You are welcome and yes, I agree. The 1900 Federal Census is much more reliable on years of birth. It is too bad that earlier census information is not as complete or genealogy would be so much easier with less guess work. Thank you for the confirmation on the year.

Find A Grave Memorial# 66531623
Hello! You may be aware, there are about 50 Parker Truitts out there. Sons, cousins, brothers, fathers, uncles, you name it, every family just had to have a Parker. (Then there's Parker Moore!)
But I digress. I see you have his father listed as Alexander Truitt, and wondered if you had any more info on where that information came from?

John Kenneth Doty now has a stone photo!
|Renee Ellis||John Wesley Downey|
Thank you so much for taking the time to photograph John's headstone for me. I had no idea that he was married a second time. He is buried in Butler, Hamilton, OH. so you really went out of your way. Many many thanks! Renee
