Bio Photo Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

"Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The goal at Find A Grave should not be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."
~Jim Tipton, creator of Find A Grave.

We have been researching for a couple decades. Families: Buckmaster, Patterson, Wollam, all variations of Teatsorth, Falk/Faulk, Johnson, Lee, Collier, Eschbarger, Orr, Brinton, Thomas, Grau, Hyde, Case, all variations of Brandeberry, Richcrick (Reichenbach), Slote, Balken, Ulmstead, Flower, Dick, Graham, Hyatt, and many more.

Also a focus on those who have fought for and kept us free ~ our American veterans. We have a virtual cemetery for these units: 31st and 49th Ohio Infantry who fought during the Civil War.

RE: Isaac Brandyberry, 26378045
HI,
I have a Death Cert. for Isaac showing his father was Rudolph. I tried attaching it to his memorial but it only allows 5 photos so I can't add it on his memorial page.
Do you have another email address that I can send it to you?

Deanna K Buckmaster
The person you have listed as Deanna K Buckmaster's mother was really her step-mother. I believe her mother was Mary Lou Langston Buckmaster Bowers who passed in Dec 1959. She is probably also buried in Shawnee.

I've removed the photo you asked about. The photo was for Albert's sons grave.

RE: Find a Grave photos
I am still searching newspaper articles for more obits or articles of interest. I am adding photographs as I gain permission, but I can wait until you send me a better one. I also have to add the regimental correspondence that I transcribed from the State Archives microfilm reel I bought. I am hoping to have everything ready for publication by the end of the year if all goes well.

Find a Grave photos
I am writing a two-volume book on the 8th Indiana. I would like to include photos of the soldiers and their headstones with their biographies. I would like to use some of your photos in the book and will give you credit in the caption for each photo. If you are interested, I can let you know when the book is published. If it is ok to use your photos, could you also give me your first and last name for the captions?

RE: Col Alba Mark Tucker # 67487212
Good idea, look for the tall white monument that says "Henry" on it. The Tuckers and the Henrys are all buried in the same large section, there are probably 15 or more graves together. As I recall, you enter the cemetery from the main gate off of Middlebury St, keep going straight back until you see a mausoleum on the left and turn left there, then start watching on the right for the tall white monument. Also, most of the Tucker stones face the back of the cemetery, not the front.

Sorry, I don't have a clue as to location. If you are in the Elkhart area, the public library has a book of Grace Lawn burials with locations and map.
