I take what I do on Find A Grave very seriously, I don't guess or make up things when I send a SAC, I have researched before I submit. Please if you're going to suggest that I'm guessing, at least include your email address or allow messages to be left on your contributor page.

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

The Final Gift

Scatter me not to restless winds
Nor scatter my ashes to the sea
Remember now those years gone by
When loving gifts I gave to thee
Remember now the happy times
The family ties we shared
Don't leave my resting place unmarked
As though you never cared
Deny me not one final gift
For all who come to see
A single lasting proof that says
I loved....and you loved me

Alex Anderson's marker edit
Hi Mark's Mom -
I broke my foot so haven't been on the computer much - I believe the inscription was already there when I got the memorial as he is a relative. Since we can't see what the transcription says "In memory of..." should I just remove that and not even have a marker inscription?
Thanks1

RE: Many heart filled thanks !
Hi Bernice!

I'm glad I could help! I took about 120 pictures at Mountain View the other day and I'll be uploading them in the next couple weeks, so let me know if I go a little too nuts with the edits :-D.

Paul Revere was super cool. I saw him last year as well, and I'm so mad at myself for not going to the meet and greet afterwards. It was probably one of the last ones he did... it was a great show, though :-).

RE: SAC corrections
Forgot to say that Find A Grave did all the corrections, rather than the contributor.

RE: SAC corrections
This contributor never answered me, so I believe inactive. If you submit SAC choices 1-5, they get done exactly 21 days later. If you request the freeform choice #6, don't expect a response. I have had good luck from Find A Grave Edit requesting duplicate eliminations, cemetery reclassifications, etc. Just keep the request simple and copy in the www.findagrave.com memorial address. I track my requests with virtual cemeteries so I can easily see when completed. Good Luck.
