Hello Betty & Dan,
Thank you so very much for sending me the contact info for Royal Oak; I did hear back from Susan & Humphreyetc was indeed correct with the plot numbers - my apologies to her/him. Thank you again for being so thorough & for enabling me to double check with the burial park to confirm 100% that there was no marker. Unfortunate for me, but I do thank you so very much for going to all of the effort you have gone to to fulfill my request and to go that extra step further to confirm the plot. Many, many thanks to you both! Annie

You have sent me many updates to my memorials in British Columbia. I am not ignoring you. For some reason, if I click on "Accept", nothing happens.
I am working with Find A Grave to try to fix this. I have done everything they suggest, but so far nothing works.
I appreciate all the updates you send and am frustrated at not being able to accept them.

Betty & Dan, well done.. wish I could go with you! lol..Anything is possible, as you know, it's easy to have transcription errors.. I saw the William Arthur E McClurg in BCArchives.
Many thanks for the great photos, the research for the obit, and for your kindness.

Thank you so much Betty and Dan for finding my Grandad's grave. I have added a photo of him on his wedding day in Leicester England.

Thank you so much for taking the time to find my GGGF's gravestone, although there was no marker, unfortunately & oddly...He had family alive to purchase a marker; I don't know why there wouldn't be one.
I can't see where I can confirm the plot coordinates that Humphreysetc has for his memorial other than paying a fee to the Victoria Genealogical Society. Not that I don't trust that person to have put the correct information down, but...I like to confirm info myself & didn't think to do that before until I received the email telling me you had taken a pic for my request.
I very much appreciate that you took the time to look and fulfill my request, especially since there was nothing to find - that must have taken more of your time to look for something that wasn't there & to come up empty was likely slightly disappointing for you as well as me. I guess it's just another mystery I'll never know the answer to.
Again, I really appreciate you taken the time to do this,

Hi Betty & Dan,
I have also been getting requests for photos from Ross Bay Cementry. Maps show that I am only 21 miles away - but that is a long, expensive 21 miles across the Strait of Juan De Fuca. With all the wonderful work you have been doing, I wanted to check in with you before I make a trip. I notice that you have been unable to find many graves. Is it worth another search or were they in the washed away area? There are also 4 unclaimed requests with no problems reported. What is their status? I marked as claimed but will gladly unclaim unless I can help in some way help. What is the status on the Love and Leask requests? I can see online that you have filled all the other recent requests but don't know about those two.
If I do come over, I would love to meet you. I am totally new to grave photography and you have had so much experience. I will come on Oct 22 & 23 if I can be of use to you in this project. Cheers from south of the border, Margaret

Hi Betty and Dan
I haven't been able to find very much info on him at all. I am curious about his cause of death and his movements across state and country borders as he started out in England and went to America and Canada via Australia but I have not been able to find any of those records after Australia. I assume he arrived in America around 1886/87 but that's only going by where and when his children were born. Any info you can send along with the photos would be greatly appreciated.
His widow Mary Ellen Matthews nee Rogers remarried and according to family folklore, also traveled back and forth between Australia and America before finally settling in America. Her three sons (one was my great grandfather) returned to Australia at some stage so I don't know whether this was before or after their fathers death and she was just visiting. There is a family story that she was nasty to her daughter-in-law (my great grandmother).
Any info you have on him would be greatly appreciated as he is a bit of a mystery to us.
