Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am an 8th generation Durr from South Carolina. My family roots grow very deep into the soil of Orangeburg, Dorchester, Colleton, Berkeley and Barnwell counties.

I've researched and traveled across the Lowcountry part of the state to where my ancestors settled, to dig into musty courthouse bins, rooted through libraries, and traipse cemeteries.

Even after many years of research, I am awed when I look at the old family tombstones, bible, land plats, Last Will and Testaments and keepsake pictures with so many lineages and thinking of the forklore of many generations past touches my heart.

Some of the families I research are; Durr, Ruple, Bell, Keitt,Salisbury, Murray, Weathers, Whetsell, Miller, Ayers, Way, Beach, Bozard, Strock, Dukes and Johnson.

Ruple - Ayers in South Carolina
I am the principal researcher for a life-long friend who is related to the Ayer/Ayers family of South Carolina. Supposedly an Andrew Downing Ayers or Aires married Barbara Ruple. One of their children was John Louis Ayer who traveled back and forth between the Orangeburg area of South Carolina an Floyd County, Georgia before going to Louisiana in the 1860s - 1870s. Do you know anything about this family. Thank you, Emily West

Caroline Carrie Haygood Matthews
Thank you for the transfer of Caroline's grave and her son, Job W. Matthews. We found a copy of Job's death certificate, and we see the birth date on the marker is incorrect. His birth date is Sept. 14, 1875. (The marker was installed in recent years, and the information we had was incorrect. Do you have any information about the markers for children: Henry Matthews, aged 8 years; Mary Matthews, aged 5 months, and Elijah, aged 8 months? These are located next to Caroline's grave.
