I am a PK (Pastor's Kid), so I have lived in many different places during my lifetime, and I don't really claim any one of them as "home", although I did live in northern Virginia for 25 years as an adult.

But both of my parents were born and raised in the farming community of Meadow, near Benson, NC, and both of their families have lived in Johnson County for generations. This makes it relatively easy to research my ancestors. But there are over 1000 cemeteries in Johnston County, and many of them are not easy to find. I enjoy visiting cemeteries and looking for an unexpected surprise.

I enjoy taking photos for other people who are not so lucky to have most of their ancestors in one geographical area. I think of my grave searches as scavenger hunts.

It is sometimes hard work to clear up the cemeteris to finally get good photo. I know we have worked many hours clearing up some just to take a few good photos. We actually carry a small back pack with us that has a few brushes, clippers, a shovel and gloves. The one on 210 was a hard one to find the stones, and the Find A Grave records still says that there are more.

It does make it a lot easier and more fun for sure with a good partner. Im so glad that Chrissy likes it. If not, I told her that she would be spending some weekends with out me. lol. If there are any cemeteries that you would like us to try to do, let us know. Of if you want to tag team something to clean or photograph, also let us know.

Sorry Connie
We are real sorry to hear about your health. I guess we do have more time and energy to clean the stones and we do love exploring fields and woods for cemeteries. Usually it is the two of us doing the job and im sure only one person does.

Im sure we do make mistakes and getting sent edits is good. I understand that you will need to transfer all of your pages to someone. That is up to you to figure out who you will send them to. If its us or someone else, Im sure they will take great care over your pages.

Take care and sorry for the nasty email, Im sorry.

Mildred Roberts 1914 - 2013
Why would you think for a second that Mildred Roberts died in 1914. You had her death date as 1914 and no idea of here birth year. You put it as unknown. You also did the page in 2012 and she did not pass till 2013. Also the stone that she has was not made in the early 1900s. You really need to be more careful at what your doing and putting in info. If you don't truly care about what your doing, maybe you should not be doing it. Also clean up stones before you take them.

J.C. Takeovers.

RE: Millie Ryals
I'm so sorry to hear about yor health problems . You and I share a passion for memorializing those who have passed before us and yor contributions are huge. I would be happy to take over any of your memorials you see fit to pass to me . Many of your mems are extended family members on my wife's line anyway. I am thrilled to hear about how your mother has enjoyed that old pic . From what I have been told the pic was taken at Barefoot school ( later Miss Minnie's Store) . According to family legend the lumber to build the school was given by my wife's Great Grandfather Noah Gideon Barefoot which would make sense seeing how many children he had and his brothers and sisters had many children too but that is not documented. the teacher is not identified but when I look in 1900 - 1910 censuses from now on I will be looking for someone listed as teacher profession.

Thankfully and respectfully your

James O Beasley
Hi Connie: You have a headstone on the memorial for James O Beasley #102943883 and it is a duplicate of one of mine #102041195. Will you please transfer the photos to mine as it is the earliest date and then I will contact the make of that memorial about it being duplicate. All the family except the spouse has been linked to mine also. Hope you are doing well. Latitia

RE: Millie Ryals
My wife's grandmother is Thenie Jane Kinsey-Barefoot. She was a schoolmate of Millie's . I also have a picture of a group of schoolmates from Thenie that has everyone labeled . Many of the folks in that picture are names I recognize from family research .

Millie Ryals
I found a wonderful old 1picture that belonged to my wife's grandmother. the picture was not marked but another Group School 2picture was. The The First picture Bore a great resemblance in my judgment to the second. I believe it is a picure of Millie Ryals at a very young age . I posted it on her find a gave memorial. please look and see if you approve. If you don't agree or approve let me know and I will remove it . I sincerely hope that it is Millie and you like it. I had to take off my tombstone picture to make room for this picture.

Holly Grove Church Cemetery
Hi, Connie. Thanks for all you do. I am looking for Joe Pender who is my husband's grand uncle. His death cert indicates he was living in Wayne Co. when he died, but for burial it says Holly Grove. Would you/could you please check to see if he is at the Holly Grove Church Cemetery in Johnson Co? From the two pics you posted it looks like quite an old one. He lived 1859-1918. Never married. We looked for the cemetery one time and were directed to the old Holly Grove Church and the new one, but no indication of a cemetery at either. Thanks so much.
