I found this site by accident and discovered that some kind person had posted my mothers grave information in North Carolina. I would like to help in a small way return the favor granted me by taking some photos. My primary interests are the Harris Family in Montgomery County, NC and VA, the Davis Family in Moore County, NC and the Auld Family with graves in Wilmington, NC they were originally from Pennsylvania.|

I came across your entry for William A. Harris. I am a descendant of his through his son Leroy.
Was wondering if you had any information about him, such as how he died? I assume it must've been either a wound or illness from the war. But I would love to know more about him.

As a fellow member of Find-A-Grave and indirect relative, I was so moved by the glowing tribute you gave to your Dad. I never knew him, but feel I know him now, through your beautiful words, thoughts, and photos.
I am a cousin of Betty Anne Johnson Harris, Herbert's wife. And, now, they are together again. I last saw Herbert & Betty Anne at their son, Michael's wedding in October 1983. Betty Anne's parents were so special to me and my sister as we grew up. I have sent in an edit to Herbert's Memorial page (his DOB) as it was my Aunt Pearl who gave me the information many decades ago.
Keep up the great work with Find-A-Grave!

You are very welcome. I also created a memorial for her husband William since he did not have one. If you would like to be the owner please let me know and i will be glad to transfer him to you.

Hi, Earlier this month you requested grave photos in Raleigh Memorial Park. Please help the photographers who assist in that cemetery by calling the office and obtaining the plot locations for your family as this cemetery is nothing less than huge. And the office is less than cooperative with non-family members due to privacy concerns. With that additional information someone should be able to help. Thanks so much, MA

Hi Kevin !
I have transferred management of your Uncle's Memorial to you. I hope you have a good day and please let me know if I can help with anything else.

She was raised by my 4th great grandmother a midwife her name was Frances Thompson Byrd. My great grandmother remembered her. I have an account of her that was printed in a Montgomery County Heritage book. I don't have a whole lot more than that. There is a pitcher that Granny Byrd's husband sent to her from Philadelphia Pennsylvania during the Civil War. Miley had possession of this after Granny Byrd died, she passed it on to Sara Strother my 3rd great grandmother, it still remains in my family. I do have a relative that is still living he is 97 years old that remembers her he went to church with her at Stoney Fork Baptist Church.

Excellent. My great grandmother was a Harris -Mary Camoline (Harris) Hall.

Thanks Kevin, he certianly was a 'fine person' in his own rigths. I thought posting the DC would be good for any one that wanted to see the conflicting dates. Sure do appreciate all that you have helped me accomplish.

That will be fine. I may already have some. My 3 kids were with me at the time. We were all armed with a camera of some type. I sent them out to take pictures. Sometimes I get good ones and sometimes I think my cat could do better than I. lol
I understand about the one with the temp marker. I wrote up and took pictures of almost all of the stones in the Mt Mitchell UMC cemetery (Kannapolis, Cabarrus Co, NC). There were a few with some temp markers that were quite old. After more research, I found a whole family who did not have markers at all. Very sad, indeed!
If I get a chance, I will upload the other pictures to my blog: http://genspark.wordpress.com/ .
If you need to, you may email me at: floosyjane[at]gmail.com . Just substitute the [at] with @.

No problem at all! Many people have helped me along so I am more than happy to return the favor.
The church is about 2 miles (if that far) from me. We are actually moving in about a month so I thought I'd get them while I could. Are there any others at the church you would like?
I did find one for a Byrd (same church) that is bugging me because I can't figure out who it may be. I thought maybe Milley Byrd but I'm not sure the headstone is that 'new'. It is much older than Martha and Thomas Byrd's stone.
Would you like the few I have?
