Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy for about 25 years. As I am now retired I travel a couple of times each year and try to locate my past by visiting cemeteries.
I am the Graves Registration officer for The General William P Carlin Camp #25 Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW).

I also belong to the Indiana Pioneer Cemeteries Restoration informal group.

RE: William Hildebrand
isn't he a veteran? See if the Veteran's can help. They may do a marker for no charge. The staff at Mountain View is phenomenal. There phone number is 775 329-9231, and i know they will help any way they can.

RE: Mount Calvary
And it looks like they already got to merging the cemeteries. Hopefully no one will re-create "Mount Calvary" on Find a Grave.

RE: Mount Calvary
I submitted a request to the Cemetery Corrections forum to merge the cemeteries. They usually get to those within a few weeks.

Mount Calvary

I see the comment you left for the person who posted the picture of the sign of Mount Calvary Cemetery ostensibly located in Foothill Farms. If you look at the Mount Calvary Cemetery page in Cheektowaga, New York, you'll find the sign there. The poster copied the image from another cemetery and posted it to the California Cemetery.

RE: Amos Lamson
Thank you for educating me on how the volunteer photos work and clarifying the differences between Infantry and Calvary, and their connection with being Civil War Veterans. I had an idea, but could not clearly sort out the differences, similarities or possible connections and different duties / assignments. I appreciate it. I enjoy learning this even if I should have done it when I was younger!
I will make a point to document military markers when and where I find them during my travels in Nevada. I will also look through my photo archives to check for any that I haven't thoroughly checked out against "Find A Grave" data and requests.
My primary focus is still the 'ol ghost towns and mining camps but documenting their cemeteries (and any burials that I can find) has certainly gained a good portion of my time in the last five or six years.
By the way, the photograph (actually a scanned slide) of Amos Lamson's marker was probably taken in the early 60's based on vehicles seen in the photos from the same trip from a collection from my parents. I scanned them several years ago and was just going over them again when it occurred to me that the location was Candelaria. I'm glad I took the time to have a good look at it. "Good" and "timing" may just be the key words. Nice to see the positive result.
Thanks for the offer of assistance and what you've already helped me with.

RE: Amos Lamson
Hi crfordy,
Thank you for your nice message and I'm glad to be of service. I still have a lot to learn about "Find A Grave"- how to navigate it, learn it's terms/definitions. I'm not sure how the photo I submitted rated as a "volunteer photo" as I simply submitted to a vacancy that could use it. I also don't "really" understand the differences between the "1st" Nevada Infantry Vs. Battalion Vs. Cavalry etc. I kind of have an idea through yesterdays research but I'm still not "solid" on exactly the differences between them or if maybe some are the same. In any case, I'll keep at it. I will make a point to document more of these in the future as I do see quite a few.
Best Regards and Your Welcome,
Doug aka Desert4wd
