My husband says I spend too much time in graveyards, doing genealogy and on the computer. Maybe he's right.|
My favorite cemeteries are Mount Hebron in Winchester, Virginia, and Rock Creek in Washington, D. C.
- When I started contributing to Find A Grave the following was listed under FAQs:
What are your naming conventions?
Unless the legal name contains a hyphen, punctuation, including the () and /, should not be included in the memorial name. Full capitalization (ALL-CAPS) of names should not be used, whether it be surname or the full name.
- I see that they have changed their FAQs to the following:
What are your naming conventions?
Unless the legal name contains a hyphen, punctuation, including the () and /, should not be included in the memorial name. Periods are to be used after initials, as in normal English. Full capitalization (ALL-CAPS) of names should not be used, whether it be surname or the full name. Suffixes and Prefixes do not belong in any name field.
- I am adhering to what was the convention on Find A Grave when I first checked FAQs. Rather than change over 18,000 memorials, I will stick with the original rule.

James Madison Ramey and Christie Anna Ramey buried at Strasburg Presbyterian Cemetery in Strasburg, VA are my great grandparents; Mary Ramey is their daughter; Franklin Ramey and Mary Ann Ramey are my great great grandparents. I would appreciate it if you could transfer the maintenance of these memorials to me. Thank you, Elizabeth Scholze

Thanks, Audrey. This hobby is so addicting! My husband feels much like yours does, but he enjoys it when I uncover some info on his family. Again, thanks, Joan

Audrey Thank You very much for your help in this matter. Glad we were able to straighten it all out. Thank You for all of your devotion & hard work.
|Wendy Wirstrom||RE: 7th Great Grand|
I submitted them both. Sam and Raw. I met with a local DAR rep and she took all my info and I never heard from her for SEVEN MONTHS! She emails me the other day and says, "this is too hard, let's go down your mom's side." Why she thought we could was beyond me. Her family came here in the 1900's!
Anyway, I think my roadblock is that they want birth, death, marriage, divorce, etc. for periods that those documents were not offered (Texas and Oklahoma) for my grand and great grands. There's like a weird gray area that is trippin' me up.
How did you do it? Did you have support from DAR to get all this or were you on your own? I'm going to Salt Lake in February. Maybe, if I prepare well, I can get a bunch of stuff there??

Audrey, Samuel M Hammond is also my 8th great grandfather. I am trying to complete the entry for DAR and really having a battle. I wonder if you might offer some help!

Audrey, This is another James Leroy Donaldson. Our records reflect a death date of 1920 & burial in Lewinsville Cemetery Langley,Va.The family members listed on James in Find A Grave site do belong to our James 1843 - 1920. Thank You for your help.
|Elaine Wade||James L. Donaldson 1843|
Audrey, My mistake, My 2x Great Grandparents James/ Sarah (Ager)are not in Lewinsville Cemetery. Rather my Great Grandparents Naaman/ Sarah (Merchant). Lewinsville indicates that James Leroy is buried next to them but has a date of 1843 - 1920.Could you PLEASE check your records for Lewinsville burials & see if you have him listed there also. I spoke with someone there & they indicated that James was in there, so we are confused & we will try to contact the other cemetery for information.
Thank You for any help.
