** My gravestone photos are for sharing! Please use them freely for your personal family research projects. However, if you re-publish them online, please include a photo credit "Photo by Find A Grave volunteer Debi C." Proper photo credit further encourages the volunteerism which makes this awesome resource possible. Thanks! **|
I still consider myself a Rhode Islander - where I grew up, lived, worked, and played for some 50 odd years - but as of July 2012, now call Gray Maine "home".
My husband of 27+ years sometimes pokes fun at me for spending much of my free time in cemeteries, but I continue to be engrossed in the study of family history and find cemeteries simply fascinating!
My own genealogy work began when my Dad died just two months before seeing the new millennium and hasn't stopped since. I enjoy helping others realize their family history goals and often take photos or conduct limited research projects - just for fun! - on a volunteer basis.
Many of my own ancestors have been in southeastern New England for centuries. My more recently "imported" predecessors were from England and Ireland.

You are quite welcome. In addition, I can tell you that, according to the cemetery map, there was a Ward family plot in the area that was destroyed. I was told that the church will deny it, but there was a new priest or pastor who came from France in the 1950s who ordered the bulldozing. I know that cemetery traditions are different in Europe, where they are running out of space, but even this was beyond what they would do. The sad part was that he did it because he didn't know that there was space for new burials available to the church in the Holy Cross cemetery.
Thanks from the bottom of my heard for taking photos of my oldest ancestors in America from England. May I please use your photos for my family tree.

Ancestry would be my first choice. I'll see if I can add more information to their memorials for you.

Wow - its at 52%,
I'm about 4 days behind on emails, will be working on them later today.
Thanks for all you do, I'm glad I can help link them all together.

Thank you so much for doing that for me!
I see you manage the page of my aunt Virginia Taylor, she is buried in Gray Village Cemetery. I thought she was in a different cemetery and made a memorial page that has loads of new information. I am curious to see if you would be willing to transfer the memorial page to me so I can link it to the rest of her family and add the extra information.
