What I Am Currently Working On

Oak Grove Cemetery at
Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa

6 Jan 2017 - During the past 2 years I have accumulated over 2000+ replacement photos for the Oak Grove Cemetery. I will now start work on processing those photos.

By replacement photos, I mean this. Back in 2012-2014 I took many photos for Oak Grove using a 6 megapixel camera. In the summer of 2014 I bought a 16 megapixel Canon camera that produced better photos. Around this time I also discovered how to do better pictures by utilizing lighting angles, and by getting down in front of the stone to take the pictures from straight on--instead of doing the 'aerial views' that so many of us do.

So--hopefully some of these photos will be better, and will make a better visual presentation of some of the stones at Oak Grove.

As of 6 Jan 2017 I have visited Oak Grove 93 times, and have spent a total of 208+ hours in this cemetery.

Oak Grove Cemetery totals:

1078 memorials I've created
1622 total for Oak Grove

There are still 82 FindaGrave memorials with no photo. And there are 6 outstanding photo requests.

Rose Hill Memorial Gardens at
Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa

6 Nov 2016 - I have processed all my October photos that I took to fulfill the photo requests for this cemetery. There were 32 requests when I started, and now there are 14 requests left to fill. I did not try to find those 14 because none of them were found in the cemetery book that was published in 1987.

As of 6 Nov 2016 I have visited Rose Hill 33 times, and have spent a total of 67+ hours in this cemetery.

Rose Hill Memorial Gardens totals:

1996 memorials I've created
3901 total for Rose Hill

There are still 884 FindaGrave memorials with no photo.

Peter Massie
You asked if he existed? The answer is yes. He was Peter Nolan Massie, born 14 June 1879 in Missouri. He was the son of David Massie and Hannah Warnol.

RE: Raders in Hart County
I'll call my cousin tomorrow and get exact location. I've paid for him to put up a road sign but he has to get permission from landowner first and hasn't been able to get ahold of him.
The Raders that are buried there are all my relatives,
A few are believed to be
Charles Rader/Raeder
His wife Susan Dawson ( sukey)
Their son Alfred
And possibly their son Jeremiah Rader , a confederate soldier
Another one of their boys ( my line) George Washington Rader moved to Shannon county , Missouri where he is buried.
He fought on the union side in the civil war
My phone number is 805-825-9706. I'm in California PST
Our Rader family was from Stuttgart Germany and were hat makers and possibly shoes too.
They were believe to have come here around 1750 , but we aren't 100%sure of that.
Tell me about your Raders and where they come from please.

RE: Rader Cemetery
HI Ron, my apologies on not replying til now. I've been trying to recover my page since I lost my old email in 2012!
Anyway I have a 4th cousin Calvin Childress who could assist you to the exact location of the Rader cemetery in hart county. We went together to find in back in 2009 I believe. It's on private property and it's back a ways in the thick of it all.
It's up a drive on the south side of a main road.
He worked for the county for many years and helped me find it.
