Sharlotte Kathleen Bridgette Neely Donnelly is Professor of Anthropology and Director of Native American Studies at Northern Kentucky University and is the author of the book Snowbird Cherokees and the science fiction novel Kasker. She received her college degrees from Georgia State University in Atlanta (BA) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MA and PhD). |
Sharlotte's ancestry is Irish, Scots, Scots-Irish, Welsh, English, Viking, Norman French, German, other European, both west and north African, southwest Asian, and Lumbee Native American. Like the prehistoric Ítzi the Iceman found in the Alps, she is a descendent of the matrilineal clan of "Katrine" (mtDNA haplogroup K, specifically K1a4a1b) who lived near present-day Venice, Italy about 15,000 years ago. Sharlotte also has a small amount of Neanderthal and Denisovan ancestry.
She is the only child of Joseph Bowden Neely and Kathleen Bell Neely, originally of Savannah, Georgia. Sharlotte is married to anthropologist, attorney, and high school athletic director Thomas Christian Christopher Donnelly, and they have one child, Mary Kathleen Bridgette Elisabeth Donnelly, and one grandchild, Mary Kathleen Quinn Donnelly. The family lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sharlotte's personal web page is at Sharlotte's Anthropology Page. Sharlotte's genealogy web page is at the Donnelly and Neely Family Page. She has been interested in genealogy since she was a small child working on her family history with her maternal grandmother, Nevada McClelland Bell.

|Robert Swenson||RE: Thanks!|
Not a problem. I know how frustrating doing this kind of stuff can be. I've been doing it for about 4-5 years and still run into brick walls with my family tree stuff. I started on my mom's side since they were local but have been working on my dad's side and can only get to my 2x great grandfather. I've got to contact the bridgeport,CT historical society sometime and get his birth certificate so I can track his parents down since the were born in sweden and I'm not sure where they are buried.
