I've designated myself as the family genealogist and I joined FindAGrave.com after visiting my grandmother's grave in Covington, LA. Because I have access to Ancestry.com, I try to get information there to add to the pages I create. |
If possible, I let other people on this website know of any additions or corrections I find to the profiles that they create. I hope I do not offend anyone (sometimes my wife says I'm too picky).
Unfortunately, I don't have as much free time as I would like to go around to the cemeteries around here; I am more than happy to avoid cemeteries others want to "claim" as theirs - there's more than enough to go around.
Any pictures and information I upload can be used by anyone on their own genealogy pages. Email me if you find any corrections on my stuff. I try to get the right information but occaisionally there are people of the same names at the same place during similar times.
If I add a memorial page and you're a relative and want to manage that page, let me know, I will be happy to transfer the management to you.

Most of the time to get an old obituary you have to go to a local Archives or Library and look them up on microfilm. Lawrence County has all their old obituaries put into books (most of them contain several years of obituaries). Or a site like Newspaper.com has old newspapers (not all of them) and you can find some in those newspapers. The site Southern Middle Tennessee Cemeteries actually has a lot of the Giles County Obituaries online. It is a great resource for them.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your input. Yes, I took a picture of his headstone, but I will have to find it in all of the photos that I have taken. If it turned out better than yours, I will gladly post it and then let you know that I did. It may take a few days.

Would you check the dates on the ts.
You had me to link husband and wife Elizabeth Harris.
He was born 1843
she was born 1872
That is quite a difference.
They do share the same stone according to your photo. I was wondering if she could be a daughter.
