Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a Mother of five, a third order Franciscan Sister, and a retired science teacher living in Ludington, Mason County, Michigan.

I have just finished photographing Rickey Cemetery, Amber Township. I apologize for the quality of the photos, many of its stones are not readable. Also it got very cold and started raining. Normally I like walking in the rain, but this was cold and you can tell by chopped off photos. I will try to get back when I can.

I will continue to transcribe and clip old newspaper death notices from the Ludington Daily News archives. I am creating a digital file of these for the local library and am adding them on this site for your personal - family use, feel free to copy my work for that purpose.
Hope it helps.

By the way, I am very happy to transfer memorials that are not of my family. Of course if they are closer related to you, yes. The memorials should be kept by family.

I have no idea. I am not familiar with the family. Its a cemetery that I was just taking pictures in several years ago. Sorry I can't be of any help.

Hi Sandi!

It looks like on the memorial for Anna Rahn (#22540759), you have the wrong photo (I think that is her son). The right photo for her is on the memorial of her husband Gustave (#22540728).

Hi Sandi

Thank you for adding the D.C. and Obituary to his memorial. I had the D.C., I think at the time I built his memorial I could not find Custer cemetery and that is why I have burial unknown.

Actually the cemetery on Find A Grave is called Riverside, also known as: Indian Burial Ground, Saint Marys Cemetery. If it weren't for the sign on cemetery page I wouldn't have entered him there either. Kind of confusing.

Think I got the job done this time, take a look and see if you agree that I have the right cemetery.

Happy hunting

RE: Amelia Arndt Obit

Thank you SO much! Without your articles, I would have never sorted this out. I was confused because I also have an Emil William Arndt in my "stable" of memorials (different guy). Jan had originally started Amel Arndt's page based on the spelling on his stone and she transferred it to me with all of the other's in his family. I assumed that he was my cousin but was never sure. In the obits for his mother, his name was spelled Emil and he was listed as living in New Mexico? Then the articles you found spell his name Emil and Emile and say that he was in Phoenix, Arizona. I haven't found a birth certificate or a death certificate yet.

I had searched and searched and could not find him because his birth fell after the 1880 Census and he was grown by the 1900 Census and not living at home. Even if he was in Arizona in the hospital, he should appear in the 1910 Census, but I haven't found him yet.

1910 was a tragic year for the Arndt family with his brother Frank dying in January, his mother Amelia dying in November and then Amel dying in December.

I am going to assume that his family ordered his headstone and they knew how to spell his name, so it was probably Amel. I will also assume that he perished from tuberculosis and that is why he was sent to a warm, dry climate. It makes sense that it was Arizona and not New Mexico, although I can't find his death in either place.

Thank you so much for solving this mystery for me.

RE: Amelia Arndt Obit
I really appreciate what you do! I love reading the obits. I see that you added to Amelia Arndt, but you mentioned Emil as well, but I don't see any additions for him. Am I missing something?

Johanna Kaczynske Neumann

I am almost 100% sure Johanna is my GGG Grandmother Johanna Kaczynska Naue Neumann. One of her grandsons was Bishop Thomas L Noa. His name appears on her death certificate. 1st Husbands name was Gustauv Naue( Naue , Noe, Noa...etc...) Records from Posan Project confirm this. I cannot see the full article you posted on her burial. Does it contain any of this information?

Thanks, Bill K
