Your tombstone stands among the rest;|
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.
If anyone has an addition or correction to anything I have posted please contact me and I will quickly correct it. I am more than happy to turn over ownership to anyone who requests it. AND PLEASE IF YOU SEE THAT I HAVE ENTERED A NAME TWICE, PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT IT. It is easy to make a duplicate without realizing it.
Also -- another FindAGrave contributor wrote this... I think it says it all:
Please note: This is NOT a numbers game, Nor a "who has who" game here. Some of us are serious about getting names & photos of headstones that are not going to be around and making memorial pages. That is what this is about, making/recording that person lived and died. Like many, I spend long, long hours either in a cemetery, or adding memorial pages to Findagrave.com. I would love to see some of the headstones of family members that were in the 1700 & 1800 of my family, but that isn't going to happen as many are gone.
It doesn't matter who has the memorial page, the important thing is that someone cared enough to make a memorial page to honor that person and that is what findagrave.com is all about. Honoring the deceased, NOT who has what memorial or how many that they have. Thanks!

Thank you very much for the transfer of these memorials to me. They are my great grandparents.
All the photos I've got at this point I've posted - one of Charles Griffin & two of his daughter Ella Griffin Bennett ~ will certainly post any others I may come across.
Thank you very much!
I appreciate it!

If you would transfer Albert, William, & Edna Young to me, I could fill in info on them. Albert was married to my grandmother, I was named after him. f you don't want to transfer, I can send you the info.
Thank you very much for adding photos of
gravestones for so many of our families. They
add so much to each memorial. Many of our loved ones are buried at St. John Catholic Cemetery and at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti, MI. Bless you for all the good work you do.

Thank you for this memorial. James was my grandmother's older brother. Growing up, I heard my grandmother had an older sister, but never heard about the brother. Learned of him last spring when I looked up Grandma's obituary. Quite a surprise and I wonder why I had not heard of him. All 3 siblings moved from Tennessee to Toledo, OH in the 1920's or '30's yet. I have no additions or corrections at this time. Still working to find who their parents were and be able to create Find A Grave memorials for them so they are linked in that way.
Again, thanks for the memorial.
Glad to hear. Yeah there might be more too... Enjoy the trip...the area here is quite nice... Esp some of these tiny out of the way cemeteries.
